To celebrate the launch of the two new cakes created by @cakeboyparis for the legendary Parisian restaurant @laperouse_paris which will be both on their menu, Frank hosted an intimate cake party.

For the signature vanilla cake we designed and crafted the edible crest in deep royal blue and refined gold, reflecting the heritage and timeless elegance of this historic house.
For the cake party, we especially created bespoke crest cookies for the guests, conceived as a sweet keepsake of this enchanting Parisian celebration.

Nel cuore creativo di Paris, i biscotti diventano piccoli capolavori di design.

Da @sobangparis, il dolce più semplice si trasforma in “luxury couture cookies”: biscotti gioiello decorati a mano con tecniche raffinate come royal icing a rilievo, acquerelli commestibili e dettagli in oro, argento o bronzo.

Fondato da @chiyoungbang, ex fashion director, questo studio creativo unisce pâtisserie, arte e design. Ogni creazione nasce con la precisione dell’haute couture ed è spesso realizzata per eventi luxury e maison prestigiose.

Le eleganti gift box racchiudono sei biscotti decorati a mano e un biglietto illustrato: piccole opere commestibili perfette per trasformare il tea time in un momento di pura bellezza.

Tra cucina, arte e immaginazione il legame è sempre più stretto e un mondo onirico di creativi, dalla moda in primis, avanza sul desco. Un trend internazionale che ora diventa anche una tendenza accademica. Tanto che alla Scuola di Agraria dell’Università di Firenze è stato inaugurato un corso di laurea in Food Design e Innovazione dei Prodotti Alimentari, il primo nel suo genere, che prevede anche una collaborazione stretta con le imprese.

Vi raccontiamo qualche protagonista di questa affascinante deriva. Come @lailacooks che fa del cibo una forma di espressione culturale e poetica. Emblematiche, per esempio, le candele-dolcetto ispirate a sei diverse città (nella foto), disegnate per The Luxury Collection (the-luxury-col- lection.marriott.com). Sembrano dessert e giocano con l’ambiguità tra ciò che si guarda e ciò che si assaggia.

I wanted to share a few more snaps from my cake collaboration with @laperouse_paris The first of two cakes I was commissioned to create is the gâteau vanille filled with whipped Tahitian vanilla bean ganache and a cassis compote all covered in mascarpone whipped cream. I asked my very talented friend @sobangparis to create a crest for the cake that would reflect the romance of the historic restaurant. It’s currently on le menu so add it the list of Parisian desserts to try for your next visit to the city of light 🍰✨ The last two photos are from my test kitchen..

Where Artistry Meets Innovation - Part IV
As the final chapter of this four-part series, this composition brings the exploration of edible illusion to its most refined point.

For this composition, Creative Director Chi-Young Bang explores the space where fine dining meets illusion.
What appears at first glance to be a delicately plated savoury dish - herbs, petals, and refined textures is in reality a trompe-l’œil created entirely from royal icing and hand piped sugar blossoms.
Instead of imitating flavour, the work shifts the focus toward perception itself: how we anticipate taste, how visual cues guide expectation, and how edible art can expand the experience beyond the palate.

This artwork reflects Chi-Young’s approach to contemporary culinary art: framing food as a medium for creative direction, shaping narratives, atmospheres, and unexpected moments within the world of haute cuisine.

Where Artistry Meets Innovation - Part III
At So BANG Paris, edible art becomes a medium of illusion, where craftsmanship and sensory perception intertwine.

For this artistic composition, Creative Director Chi-Young Bang explored the boundaries of culinary materiality by hand-shaping apple and pear slices from sugar paste, then delicately hand-painting each with edible watercolors.

What appears as fruit is, in fact, sugar - smooth and polished like porcelain, evoking a visual and tactile paradox. The work plays with perception: sight anticipates fruit, scent signals sweetness, touch reveals an unexpected surface, and taste completes the shift, confirming that nothing is what it first seems.
A sensory choreography that transforms gastronomy into a dialogue between reality and imagination.

A study in contrasts - ephemeral yet sculptural, edible yet artistic, redefining how we experience and interpret food as art.

At So BANG Paris, edible art transforms into a statement, where sugar becomes a sculptural language and craftsmanship meets imagination.

For this creation, our Creative Director Chi-Young Bang reinterpreted fondant and royal icing as artistic materials, hand-sculpting fishes that blur the line between culinary illusion and contemporary art.

Each piece is crafted entirely from sugar, hand-painted with edible pigments and finished with a pearlescent metallic sheen, a visual paradox between sweet and savory, reality and perception.

Designed to evoke curiosity and invite conversation, this work redefines how I experience gastronomy, turning the familiar act of dining into a moment of artistic reflection.

✨ So honored to be featured in British Vogue! ✨

Thank you so much to @britishvogue for including a photo from our unforgettable celebration at the iconic Plaza Athénée in their November Wedding Issue.

Planning and designing a wedding weekend at this legendary Parisian landmark was a dream brought to life! A true celebration of haute couture elegance and Parisian romance. From an intimate rehearsal dinner at Jean Imbert au Plaza Athénée to welcome drinks in the Eiffel Tower Suite, every moment was layered with intention, artistry, and luxury.

The ceremony unfolded in the storybook courtyard, followed by a reception in Salon Organza and a dazzling after-party in Le Bar. Inspired by the timeless aesthetic of Dior Maison, with Elie Saab gowns gracing each moment of the weekend, the design echoed the hotel’s deep-rooted ties to fashion and sophistication. Guests were greeted by ballerinas and couture-inspired performers; an experience that celebrated beauty, creativity, and the magic of Paris itself.

Feeling endlessly grateful for the talented creative partners who helped bring this vision to life, and for the opportunity to see it grace the pages of British Vogue. 💫
