I nearly talked myself out of this before I’d opened the platform. No experience at all! Then I started making things, changing things and teaching myself as I went. Several hours and a questionable bedtime later, I had something I could test.

It’s called SoCo Wayfinder. I’m building it to help underrepresented founders and independent practitioners work out their next step and find support.

Confidence is still catching up. At least now it has something to work with.

Thanks to @simonsquibb and the World’s Biggest Business Challenge for spurring me on to create my first AI app using @emergentlabs Here we go!

Send this to someone who’s waiting to feel ready.

What have you been meaning to make more room for? Friends? Creativity? Yourself?

The Table by SoCo is coming this November. Share food, join a facilitated inspo-tainment conversation or settle into something quietly creative. Participate at your own pace.

Come away with a new connection, a little clarity or simply an evening you’re glad you made time for.

Tag that friend you keep saying you’ll catch up with. Coming solo? There’s a seat for you too. What would be possible with the right people at your table?

Join the waitlist. Link in bio. Or DM ne #soco #reconnection #community #thetablebysoco @sococollective.com.au

I’ve been thinking about abundance while managing PTSD, low moods and very real financial stress. Excellent timing. My brain would prefer we revisit something from 1994.

I’m learning to ask a better question than “Why can’t I get it together?”

What conditions help me participate, connect, work, lead and belong?

And whose expectations am I carrying? The pressure to earn more, look different, push through and need nobody didn’t appear out of nowhere. We don’t all have the same resources, responsibilities or room to manoeuvre.

Knowing my patterns helps me recognise what I need and where I have choices. Sometimes that’s changing my plans. Sometimes it’s asking for help or questioning a condition I shouldn’t have to keep adjusting myself around.

We’ve become very used to treating a good life as a solo project. Yet so much becomes possible through shared knowledge, practical support, introductions and people who make room for us.

That’s part of why I’m building The Table by SoCo. A place to connect, contribute and receive. To build collective capability: the relationships and resources that help us do things together we couldn’t manage alone.

You don’t have to arrive with a polished plan or prove you’re useful enough to belong.

What would become possible with the right people at your table? What could you offer, and what would you love help with?

Your future self might appreciate a few collaborators. Mine has formally requested them. Link in bio

“The system has a way of sucking us into urgency, survival and noise, pulling us away from what matters.”

Consider this your Friday Feels reminder: get back on purpose.

Most community events give you conversation. I’ve been challenging the status quo of late (ok my whole life really)

“The Table” is designed to help you move something forward.

It’s a FREE monthly, facilitated gathering for people who want to:

* meet people beyond their usual circles
* get perspective on an idea, decision or challenge
* offer their knowledge and connections to others
* leave with one practical next step

There are only 27 seats because this is participatory. You won’t sit through a panel, watch one person take over or be left to “work the room”. We eat together (you pay for your meal) and we move forward - together.

No pitching.
No prospecting.
No coaching funnel hiding behind the word community. Ick. *never selling you anything promise

You can bring a project, a personal goal, a community issue, an unfinished idea or something you’ve been avoiding (ya bills lol) You don’t need to arrive with a polished plan or impressive title. It’s about human connection. The 12 people signed up on the waitlist are fascinating 🧐 you’ll see. I bring the facilitation goods and— the good people together!

The point is simple: meet people, exchange useful support and take action after the event.

Community is not something we should only consume. It’s something we can practise and build together.

The first Table will be held at Dusty’s in Fitzroy. Big car park 🅿️ so it’s easy to be there. Inclusive, accessible, diverse. Did I mention free? 🆓

Sign up to the waitlist through the link in my bio. Or just reach out and CONNECT with a human - DM me!!

What’s the thing you keep saying you’re going to do?

Build the idea.
Make the decision.
Write the application.
Start the project.
Sort out your life admin.
Do the bloody bills.

Sometimes we don’t need another course, productivity hack or inspirational podcast.

We need somewhere to go.

So I’m creating The Table: free evenings for people who want to move something forward without having to do it alone.

I’ll facilitate a short 30-minute session to help you work out what matters, what’s keeping you stuck and the next move you can actually make.

Then we eat.

You can work quietly, talk things through, ask for help, offer help or simply enjoy being around other humans while you get your thing done.

Come with a big ambition, an annoying task or no idea where to begin.

All ages, cultures, religions, genders, bodies and backgrounds are welcome.

The evening is free. You just pay for your dinner at @dustysfitzroy (plenty of car park 🅿️ near by)

No networking performance.
No forced vulnerability.
No program waiting to sell you something.

Just good food, interesting humans and a couple of hours to finally move the thing.

Would you come?

The work is important. The people are everything.

SoCo has never been about one person. It’s about finding good people, bringing different skills and perspectives together, and building meaningful work that leaves workplaces and communities stronger.

Feeling incredibly grateful for this growing collective. Collectively we’ve worked with 15 organisations across 10+ industries, Culture by Co-Design has delivered 20+ culture transformation projects, 30+ executive codesigns, and engaged 1000’s of people in designing better ways of working. We are only getting started.💛 @sococollective.com.au @judithmarieortiz @bethyy_g_ @natjanew @villageresponsecollective

SoCo Newsletter #2 - I wouldn’t be the entrepreneur, consultant, community builder, coach, and facilitator I am today without my lived experiences. My SA trauma, cPTSD, anxiety, depression, addictions, binge eating, deep grief from losing both my parents at a young age —all of it has shaped me into who I am.

Sharing this might make some people uncomfortable. It might even seem “too much” for the professional world. But why should I hide it? Why should any of us?

read on? It’s a juicy one. I want to know your thoughts below 👇

Have you sat in meetings like these? Is the Boardroom table blocking the connections needed for team trust and cohesion? I think so! This group were coming together to create a new community of practice. They had to find new ways to instill a community spirit - where bureaucracy doesn’t make room for it. Changing the system can take time, yet changing the group dynamics is easy start to begin with. Thanks to DFFH & PTWF program for having me!
