Destination Bijou is an art jewellery festival in the medieval village Haut de Cagnes / Cagnes-sur-Mer. PLATINA is invited to curate an exhibition with 7 artists from Sweden in the beautiful castle, Château Grimaldi on top of the hill.
Between 1923 and 1924, the Swedish Nobel Prize awarded author, Pär Lagerkvist, lived nearby Château Grimaldi in the Haut de Cagnes. Here he wrote the acclaimed novel Guest of Reality, published in 1925, almost one hundred years ago. The novel is considered one of the most important coming-of-age stories in Swedish literature and contains autobiographical elements and revolves around the existential vulnerability of human life.
The invited artists have read the novel and present their own free interpretations in this shared exhibition.
In conjunction with the exhibition, Pamela Jaskoviak will read poems, and Rebecca Burkhalter will have a solo exhibition hosted by Rivieraklubben at Villa Ingeborg in Cagnes-sur-Mer that opens on the National Day of Sweden, 6th of June.

Platina and Four are the only two contemporary jewellery galleries in Sweden. Platina opened in Stockholm 1999 and Four in Göteborg 2010. The two galleries present a wide range of artists from all over the world, well established artists mixed with emerging talents, big colourful expressions and minimalistic elegant pieces. June 28-30 we welcome you to visit us in the Jewellery Room at Lisbon Contemporary Jewellery Biennial, where Platina and Four have brought together a group of 14 artists living and working in Sweden.

Extranalities – Pictureware

Extranalities is a group of established jewellery artists who challenge each other with unusual assignments. The participants have already sent each other something unattractive from their own possessions, to turn into something beautiful. And vice versa. All kinds of assignments, even entire mood boards, ended up on the workbenches of unsuspecting colleagues.

What a joy to see @sofia_platina and @karin_roy in Paris! Reminded me of the good times when we were still traveling for jewellery weeks... they have a beautiful and impressive display in the @biennale_emergences . A must see! .

First there was big bang, then about 4 billion years ago life appeared on earth. About 450 million years ago fish started swimming in the oceans and then 250 million years later birds were flying in the skies. Then it took about 200 million years until a gallery for contemporary jewellery opened in Stockholm and 10 years later another one ope- ned in Göteborg. Strangely enough the women behind these galleries independently developed an interest for fish and birds, and they also both felt a strong desire to bring the fish and birds they had been working with to Paris.
Was it something in the water? Was it something in the air? Or maybe it all happened somewhere in between.

It is time for PARCOURS BIJOUX! Me and @sofia_platina are right now on our way to Paris and on Thursday our exhibition opens at Centre National de la Danse.

@parcoursbijoux is an event entirely dedicated to Jewellery. There will be events
all over Paris and one of them is Bird Fish or Somewhere in Between with work by Sofia Björkman and me. The exhibition is open 8th -11th of October 2020 - hope to see you there!

The year was 2007 and I had a solo exhibition coming up. The theme “order” had started to interest me after a working trip to Belarus (a project initiated by the Swedish Institute). What struck me during my first walk around Minsk was how very clean it was. No graffiti, no litter, none of the provocative experiments clothing among the youth. Maybe I got a little bit obsessed, surely l could see signs of dissent against the dictatorship in the city space if you only knew the codes. I was frightened by the atmosphere and how everything seemed so arranged. In the past couple of weeks we’ve seen images from Belarus showing thousands of people in demonstrations. I have so much admiration for these people and especially the women of Belarus who are fighting for an open social. I fully support their struggle hope it will succeed! Illustrating the female struggle, my sculpture “Be nice”, was part of my exhibition at Galleri Platina. This piece was then bought by the Röhsska museum for their permanent collection. #benice #sculpture #supportingbelarus #röhsska #galleriplatina #soloexhibition

This weekend is the last chance to see the exhibition Contemporary Jewellery – thoughts, materials and techniques at Form/Design Center in Malmö, Sweden. The exhibition has been running the whole summer and I am very happy for the invitation to curate this art jewellery exhibition. Seven jewellery artists with different thoughts, using a variety of materials and techniques, show unique jewellery that tells what jewellery is and does today.
Participating artists: Annette Dam, Annika Pettersson, Caroline Lindholm, Elin Flognman, Linnéa Eriksson, Manon van Kouswijk, Sofia Björkman.
