A few years ago, I read something that said every person is either a bird or a tree.

It’s something I’ve been thinking about for a while now, trying to figure out which one I am. And I’ve finally decided that I’m neither.

For anyone else who feels somewhere in between, this conversation is for you. I’m curious: what do you think about the bird vs. tree debate? Are you a bird, a tree, or something else entirely?

Comment “BOAT” and I’ll send you my conversation with Sofia on how to build a life while travelling ✈️

being BOSSY.

It means a lot of things: being assertive, knowing what you want, reaching your goals and not being afraid to speak up.

Being bossy means different things for each one of us, but it certainly also means that we have power that we aren’t afraid to show the world.

Girls, never take comments about bossy as something negative, it is ALWAYS something positive no matter the context:))

Mt Kilimanjaro over and out 🫡

And with that, we completed the Machame Trek on day 7 💪

We attribute 99% of our success to the insane amounts of nutella and milo we consumed - a tub of each a day 🫣😂

Driving back with views of the top of Kili, it was hard to believe we were stood on top of it the day prior! Wow. What an insane experience with an incredible team - congrats! 🩵

🏔️ Final day stats: 9km, 1373m descent, 2.5 hours

100% Mt Kilimanjaro summit success 🕺🏽🇹🇿🏔️

Every single person stood on the roof of Africa. We fkn did that. 💪

Here’s Sofia’s account of summit day:

“Our alarms went off at 11pm… although none of us had really slept. By midnight, we were climbing.

For 6 gruelling hours we hiked through complete darkness. The only things we could see were millions of stars above us and a never-ending trail of head torches winding up the mountain.

Time crawled. Every break felt dangerous because the second we stopped moving, we wanted to fall asleep. We chanted together to stay awake. Pole pole, as they say in Swahili… slowly, slowly. One step at a time.

Then, just after 6am, everything changed.

The sun broke over the horizon and suddenly the cold, exhaustion and doubts didn’t feel quite so heavy anymore. We cried. We laughed. We hugged as feeling returned to our frozen fingers and toes. For the first time all night, the summit felt within reach.

The final 2 hours were surreal. Glacier after glacier appeared around the ancient volcanic crater, and every step reminded us why we’d come.

Then… there it was.

The summit.

Relief. Pride. Disbelief. Happiness. Months of training. Months of anticipation. 8 brutal hours climbing uphill through the night. It all led to this moment.

We were standing on the highest freestanding mountain on Earth. 🤯

It even hurt to cry… but none of us could stop. We’d all had moments where we wondered if we’d make it. Somehow, together, we did.

And as if the morning couldn’t get any more unforgettable, Corey got down on one knee and proposed to Holly at 5,895m. Huge congratulations! 💍🩵

Then came the descent… all 2,800m of it. In a single day we walked through every one of Kilimanjaro’s five climate zones:

🥶 Arctic
🌵 Alpine Desert
🌳 Heather & Moorland
🐒 Rainforest
🌾 Cultivation & Farmland

Now that’s one hell of a story for the grandkids someday…”

🏔️ 19km | 1,285m ascent | 2,813m descent | 14 hours

The biggest, toughest and most rewarding day of the trek by far.

To our first-ever Hardest Adventures Kilimanjaro team… congratulations. You’ll never forget this day, and neither will we 💪

The day before summit night… 🫣

Day 5 of trekking up Mt Kili started with the best energy booster: a good ol’ boogie 🕺🏽

Trekking 4.5km through Mars-like land, we soon arrived at our next camp in just 3 hours (2hrs moving time) 🪐

This short day gives us lots of time to rest up before our midnight summit push… Which is feeling more real than ever as our camp sits under the looming peak!

Wish us luck🤞

📍 Barranco Wall, day 4 of climbing Mt Kilimanjaro 🏔️🇹🇿

Today was everyone’s favourite day, scrambling up the famous Barranco Wall! Hands and feet were getting their moneys worth, whilst altitude had nothing on us 😮‍💨

Insane views of the top which we’re edging closer to every day…. and let’s not even mention the daily cloud inversions that keep blessing us, and the clearest night skies we’ve ever seen 🌌

🏔️ 6.5km, 472m ascent, 5 hours (3hrs moving time)
