100% Mt Kilimanjaro summit success 🕺🏽🇹🇿🏔️

Every single person stood on the roof of Africa. We fkn did that. 💪

Here’s Sofia’s account of summit day:

“Our alarms went off at 11pm… although none of us had really slept. By midnight, we were climbing.

For 6 gruelling hours we hiked through complete darkness. The only things we could see were millions of stars above us and a never-ending trail of head torches winding up the mountain.

Time crawled. Every break felt dangerous because the second we stopped moving, we wanted to fall asleep. We chanted together to stay awake. Pole pole, as they say in Swahili… slowly, slowly. One step at a time.

Then, just after 6am, everything changed.

The sun broke over the horizon and suddenly the cold, exhaustion and doubts didn’t feel quite so heavy anymore. We cried. We laughed. We hugged as feeling returned to our frozen fingers and toes. For the first time all night, the summit felt within reach.

The final 2 hours were surreal. Glacier after glacier appeared around the ancient volcanic crater, and every step reminded us why we’d come.

Then… there it was.

The summit.

Relief. Pride. Disbelief. Happiness. Months of training. Months of anticipation. 8 brutal hours climbing uphill through the night. It all led to this moment.

We were standing on the highest freestanding mountain on Earth. 🤯

It even hurt to cry… but none of us could stop. We’d all had moments where we wondered if we’d make it. Somehow, together, we did.

And as if the morning couldn’t get any more unforgettable, Corey got down on one knee and proposed to Holly at 5,895m. Huge congratulations! 💍🩵

Then came the descent… all 2,800m of it. In a single day we walked through every one of Kilimanjaro’s five climate zones:

🥶 Arctic
🌵 Alpine Desert
🌳 Heather & Moorland
🐒 Rainforest
🌾 Cultivation & Farmland

Now that’s one hell of a story for the grandkids someday…”

🏔️ 19km | 1,285m ascent | 2,813m descent | 14 hours

The biggest, toughest and most rewarding day of the trek by far.

To our first-ever Hardest Adventures Kilimanjaro team… congratulations. You’ll never forget this day, and neither will we 💪 taken in Uhuru Peak (5895m) by @sofias.story

🚍 22 long haul buses / trains
🪂 3 new hobbies gained: aeriel sports (skydiving/paragliding) snorkelling & scuba diving (can’t believe it was my first time doing all of these this year when they’ve become such regular things for me!!)

being BOSSY.

It means a lot of things: being assertive, knowing what you want, reaching your goals and not being afraid to speak up.

Being bossy means different things for each one of us, but it certainly also means that we have power that we aren’t afraid to show the world.

Girls, never take comments about bossy as something negative, it is ALWAYS something positive no matter the context:))
