I’ve been on a bit of a smash burger kick lately. Here are 5 spots I think are really pushing the burger envelope.

#smashburgers #losangeles #westcovina #pasadena #sauce

123 Burger Co in Upland just opened but they have quickly made a name for themselves. I was a huge fan of their western burger with beer battered onion rings. They make their bbq sauce in house and have spicy or sweet options.

Bun Street in West Covina is another great choice. Their classic smash burger hits all the right notes. From melted American cheese to their tangy house burger sauce it nails the classic California burger. Also these are by far some of the biggest (and messiest) burgers on this list.

Cannon ball in South Pasadena is perfect if you are looking for an upscale date night. They also have the absolute best fries I have tried in a long time. If you want a nice glass of wine paired with an amazing burger this is your spot.

Amboy Quality Meats is the number nine burger in the world for a reason. Alvin Cailan is a burger genius and has created the ultimate mix and match burger menu. Although, I do slightly prefer their slim thick burger with fancy toppings 🤤

Softies is my number one smash burger. The combination of soft bun and crunch from the burger is truly immaculate. I’ve been obsessed with this burger since their Smorgasburg days and it’s awesome watching them thrive.

Ledger is a freshman at USC studying Arts, Technology and the Business of Innovation at the Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young Academy—better known as Dr. Dre’s school. The program is built around bringing new ideas into whatever industry calls to you, and for Ledger, that’s fashion.

We talked about his brand Starchild, where every piece is hand-sewn, painted, distressed or repurposed as an alternative to fast fashion and mass production. We also got into his goal of becoming a multi-hyphenate creative director, his professor’s brutally honest advice about using AI without letting your brain “turn into mush,” and how surreal his first two months in LA have felt—from leaving North Carolina to studying at USC and landing a job at Holiday.

We had the conversation at Softies, a former smash-burger pop-up that found its first permanent home right outside USC—and we’ll definitely be spinning back next week when their soft serve drops. #btw THE LEMONADA IS TOO GAS BRO
