i ❤️‍🔥 the radical public health zine!!!!! honored to have done the cover art for the volume 2 collab with @publichealth4palestine, and to have my painting “by any means necessary” featured in volume 3! so many stunning submissions from ppl who remind me a better world is possible!!!!! #health4all

“Volume 3 of the Radical Public Health Zine centers on systems of violence-such as policing, ICE, and the IDF
-and their devastating health impacts on individuals, famities, and communities. This volume explores the health consequences of violent state infrastructures, examines the interconnections between ICE, police forces, and the IDF, and uplifts structural public health interventions-such as abolition-that aim to dismantle these systems of harm.” - @radical_publichealth @yes_nely

Two Recipes, One Tradition: Making Musakhan In Gaza Before And After The Genocide

Essay by @ibr.ahim1349
Artwork by @softlightarts

Even amidst genocide and starvation, Palestinians are resilient, altering our traditional recipes due to lack of food. But how resilient can we continue to be?

I carry with me two different recipes for musakhan. One is from the time before this siege, when Gaza was a concentration camp instead of an extermination camp, when our humanity was constantly attacked but easier to preserve and protect. When we had olive oil. The second recipe is for a time of constant danger, days spent sifting through the remnants of dead bodies to find the living, and a mass displacement that has continued for more than a year. A recipe for the last drops of olive oil.

The following was originally published in the print and digital Deluxe Food Edition. Order a print or digital copy to support the only Palestinian magazine in the United States.

** The Surface as of Sept 27th has cut all ties with Space.01, they also cancelled this show last minute, touring bands were paid**

Come join us Sunday August 25th for ACAB, all creatives are beautiful. This will be the closing reception of Space.01’s “My country kills people” exhibit ft. artists against imperialism, genocide, and ethnic cleansing. Whether here in our backyards or committing war crimes abroad, our country and tax dollars are directly responsible for upholding this racist and broken system. We as artists come together, in solidarity, to collectively grieve, strategize, and fight back against a system that seeks to divide and alienate us! We can’t let fear of violence intimidate us. We must be a united front who will not succumb to violent provocateuring!

Please join us to hear from groups who have been doing the work, Chicago’s Black Alliance for Peace and Chicago’s Alliance Against Racism and Political Repression, to learn more about how to get involved in this fight.

Meanwhile scream into the void with us by the likes of Fantasma Negra (@fantasma.negra ), Feels Like Karma (@feelslikekarmaband ), and Daku (@dakuface ), with Cyphvin (@cyphvin ) joining us from the Big Apple and his touring pals Nervous Surface (@nervoussurface) from North Carolina!

Will have some sick flash from @babybethlehemtattoo for your fresh ink needs and some prints and goodies for sale from old and new friends @softlightarts and @burymeinflowers !

Healthcare Workers for Palestine - Bay Area is thrilled to share our first batch of merch! This beautiful and powerful design comes from @softlightarts and speaks to our commitment as healthcare workers to remain in struggle alongside our Palestinian siblings until Palestine is free, from the river to the sea. We are an entirely grassroots, volunteer-based movement. Half of all proceeds will support our ongoing organizing work — including payment for local artists who create our protest art, supplies and food for community-building events, and payment for interpreters and accessibility services for our mass meetings. The other half will go to MECA (the Middle East Children’s Alliance). Deadline to order is 5/14/2024 and items can be shipped anywhere in the US. Order here: bit.ly/HCW4Pmerch (link in bio). WORKERS FOR PALESTINE CHICAGO 2024 MAY DAY STATEMENT

Chicago’s Healthcare Workers for Palestine, Cultural Workers for Palestine, Education Workers for Palestine, Tech Workers for Palestine, and Social Service Workers for Palestine are striking for May Day and encourage all workers in Chicago and around the world to strike.

May Day commemorates the general strike of 1886 for an eight-hour workday, during which protestors were met with police brutality. Several workers were murdered. At the emergency rally the next day, workers intensified the struggle. A bomb was thrown, and both the police and the crowd fired shots. The following riots, and the subsequent trials of the 8 labor organizers falsely tried for conspiracy of murder, changed the landscape of labor organizing for decades. Of the 8, four were hanged, one died of suicide before the scheduled execution, and three were pardoned in 1893. These organizers are now known today as the Haymarket martyrs.

On this May Day, we honor all our martyrs, from Chicago to Gaza. We workers across all sectors, unionized and non-unionized, demand and join the mobilizations and strikes in all our ways for the immediate end to the U.S. funded genocide in Gaza.

We uplift the Palestine General Federation of Trade Unions - Gaza’s ask “to stand in solidarity with our struggle and take decisive action to honor the countless martyrs lost and the families torn apart, and build pressure for a free Palestine.”

WE RAISED 1245$ FOR PALESTINE! 🇵🇸

First off, wow. The world is a dark place right now but this event showed the world that even in this darkness we can find a light and boy did y’all make it shine. I wish I could tag everyone who made this event special so instead you can find them all in the last slide. Show them some love 🫶

After speaking with the artists, we came to the conclusion that not only is aid not being allowed into Gaza but the non-profit industrial complex is grifting off the blight of the Palestinian people and we concluded that the best way to ensure that the money gets to people who can utilize it is through mutual aide efforts.

Noor @softlightarts was kind enough to use her family connections to Palestine to ensure the money goes to people who need it. The last bit of the $$ will be donated in batches over the next couple weeks. Thank you 🙏

If you want to keep helping the people of Palestine, keep showing up, educate yourself and plug into the resistance. @falasteen.favorites is hosting events just like this one and shared her sisters efforts to get eSims to Gazans through @watermelonwarriors.io . Give them a follow and keep spreading the word that Palestine will be free. With your help, we can make it happen!! Don’t stop, never stop!!!

With love and solidarity

Chicago workers for Palestine call for a general strike on Wednesday May 1st. From the river to the lake, strike on May Day for goodness’ sake!

International Workers Day, or May Day, is a day of global struggle and resistance with special significance here in Chicago. In 1886 Chicago workers went on strike for the 8-hour work day which culminated in the Haymarket Affair. You can visit the Haymarket Martyrs Monument, a National Historic Landmark, in the local Forest Home Cemetery.

In 2024 we strike for Palestine. We strike for our martyrs from Chicago to Gaza. We strike because we refuse to have our labor exploited by this capitalist system to commit genocide. We strike because we believe our collective power as workers can create a better world where the people decide how, where, and for what our labor is used. We strike for LAND BACK from all rivers to all seas.

Stay tuned for more info about May Day mobilizations. If you work in a role such as caregiving, please keep safety in mind and call off work well in advance so arrangements can be made.
