“The bridge I must be is the bridge to my own power.”
— Donna Kate Rushin, “The Bridge Poem,” 1981

A silent animated reflection on a poem that keeps on meeting me in new ways.

Concept + Creative Direction: Jess Solomon
Animation + Design: Kelli Anderson (@sojournals @black.toyadvntr)

From This Bridge Called My Back: Writings by Radical Women of Color, edited by Cherríe Moraga and Gloria Anzaldúa.

The copy pictured at the end was gifted to me by Valerie Maynard. Her handwritten notes send me + keep us in conversation across space and time. Write in your books!😘
