From sewing clothes that didn’t quite fit during lockdown to sending “Denim Dreams” down the Queer AF runway. 👖 ✨

My latest for @brocktonenterprise introduces readers to Secarra Little, the designer behind Sol Full Seams, whose Brockton roots, family history and love of Black fashion all show up in the work.

We talked about learning to sew, turning repurposed denim into sculptural fashion, Black dandyism, ancestry and what it means to create boldly in queer spaces.

Queer AF is known as the Queer Met Gala of Massachusetts. Located in the second-largest city in New England, our art and fashion show is the ultimate celebration of queer joy, uplifting bodies of all sizes and artists of all identities, and serves as the annual fundraising gala for @love.your.labels, which supports trans and queer youth!

This year’s theme recognizes the complex history of denim, a textile that symbolizes labor, resistance, reinvention, and style.

We are thankful for the support of our presenting sponsors @Lasell_U @lasellfashion and @saintgobainnorthamerica in bringing this show to life in the iconic @mechanicshall in Worcester, Massachusetts.
