On October 15th, please join us to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Fantagraphics—the greatest comics and graphic novel publisher in the United States.

Publisher Eric Reynolds will be in town from Seattle and will be joined by Secret Headquarters founder Dave Pifer at The Loved One for a conversation about alternative and classic comics, and so much more.  A cavalcade of artists published by @fantagraphics—many of whom call Los Angeles home—will be on hand to sign your books and raise a glass to 50 years, an astounding achievement for any independent publisher.

Like most events at The Loved One, this one is free and open to the public. You can help fuel our public arts programming by purchasing Fantagraphics comics and graphics novels, scores of which we’ll have on hand, along with our usual bookshop wares, the night of.

@100tacos birthday ride from last year! We met @obetanddels then climbed up Mt. Washington and back down for a dip in the pool. Mick is one of the nicest dudes I’ve met in the LA cycling community. Recently he was struck with tragedy in the form of a garage fire. It destroyed his workshop and livelihood. If you can, please head on over to his web store and pick up something cool to help him out. I remember the first time I ever set foot in @allezlabikeshop Mick hollered through the busy crowd to greet me and immediately came over to help get me sorted. Movie time 🎬! Went up the spiral staircase along the 110, snapped some footage of @shawn182 and @tatsuhiro_ta2 doing their thing, learned about fixie money, had some laughs with @jannipanini, and enjoyed hearing about @solidmonday's new bike experience 👌.

Alex at @benscycle VERY generously gave me the FULL tour of what was formerly Euro-Asia-Imports extensive NOS inventory. I followed it here from Burbank haha. Sorry for the shitty video (clean your lens Straus) it was all pretty overwhelming. Where to begin?

A lot of first right here!

First off, it’s definitely our first time posting about the #FRIDAYLLEZride on the following Tuesday. So sorry y’all, but with the move and @ciclavia MLK being last weekend, we had to put all our energy towards those.

Second, @shawn182 ran into @woper_td on the way to @obetanddels and asked him where he was going!?! He said, “The Hollywood Sign!!!” Shawn said, “Me too!” And the next thing you know, we have a cycle tourist on the ride from Poland!!! 🇵🇱 @squidcirclepit, our A1 Poland son had stayed out a little too late @dunsmoor.la with @hatchetchief, so we made sure to take extra good care Tomasz. We not only took him on the most beautiful bicycle tour of Hollywood, we also told him all about Trump, and the MAGA Shoes he had on, and he promised to throw them away when he got home(He should be home by now). When asked why he had them, he said, “That he wanted to take home a little piece of 🇺🇸.” We assured him he’d be better off with @vans Anaheim editions, we even tried to get him shoes on the ride, but he had a really small foot. 😂 It was really nice talking and riding with Tomasz. Remember, never judge a book by its cover, and give everyone a chance, you never know what you’ll discover. You’ll know when to walk away, educate, or embrace. This time we were meant to educate and embrace. But definitely the first time some MAGA shoes showed up on a Allez LA ride!!! 🤣

Our third round of first, it was @larissablintz, @brutal_dilan ‘s little cousin, and @twothickscoopsbikes first time to the Hollywood Sign on bike!!! Give them all a round of applause!!! 👏

Speaking of first, I’m guessing that was probably the first time @solidmonday ‘s @ronsbikes Alumax II has been to the Hollywood Sign as well!!! So many first, and just look how beautiful that bike is.

The last photo on this carousel represents hate, so I just wanted to leave y’all with some LOVE. Everyday I’m blown away by the cyclist of Los Angeles, we live and ride in a city that hates us, and yet “We Love It!” Give y’all selves a round of applause and pat yourselves on the back, y’all give me the energy to keep doing this everyday! I ❤️ Riding in L.A. We LOVE IT!!! 💚💛❤️

Big group for today’s #FRIDAYLLEZride, but no group photo, the Silver Fox was too busy staring @solidmonday ‘s new @ronsbikes Alumax II. But luckily he did get a video of everyone crushing though! Y’all know it’s a good ride when the fanny pacquiao and the Track Bike come out!!! R.I.P @marcjohnson 😢 Thanks for that @pistol_pat @jannipanini is back!!!

Once again, somehow I’ve scammed my way onto @theshq brown bag.
