“Proof how far the humble stool has come.” — 𝗦𝘂𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗻𝗮𝘆𝗮

The reviews are in! @sulemananaya visited 𝘚𝘛𝘖𝘖𝘓𝘚 at @a83_inst and spoke with some of the designers. Curated by PIN–UP, @a83_inst, and @barkowleibinger, the exhibition brings together 44 takes on one of design’s most basic typologies, from chainsawed ash and CNC-milled walnut to Styrofoam, aluminum, pillows, and one very suggestive milking stool.

Join us for the next invited lecture "Once Again, with More Feelings" by noted architect and alumna Jing Liu, AIA (M.Arch '04), followed by a discussion with The ReView #4 faculty book contributors Assia Crawford, Sonsoles Vela Navarro, and Shawna Meyer.

Once Again, with More Feeling presents the work of Solid Objectives Idenburg Liu (SO–IL) through the lens of the studio’s cultural projects and their ongoing exploration of architecture as both a physical and experiential medium. Alumna Jing Liu will discuss how museums, arts institutions, and housing can move beyond architecture as a neutral container to become active sites for encounter, participation, and collective experience. Through projects that challenge conventional relationships between material, structure, and public space, the lecture considers how architecture can create new forms of intimacy and connection between people and their surroundings. Once Again, with More Feelings reflects on the potential for architecture to be simultaneously precise and open-ended—grounded in the realities of building while making space for ambiguity, emotion, and evolving forms of public life.

Jing Liu has been practicing for more than 15 years, working on a wide range of projects both in the US and abroad. Liu earned her undergraduate, five-year Master of Architecture in 2004 from the then-named Tulane School of Architecture. Through building practice and interdisciplinary research projects, Liu has led SO–IL in the engagement with the socio-political issues of contemporary cities — in projects like the Artists Loft North Omaha and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Library in Cleveland. Her projects range from artistic collaborations with contemporary choreographers and visual artists to master plan and major public realm design in cities like Melbourne and Indianapolis.

Behind the architecture of the Australia Pavilion is Brooklyn-based firm Solid Objectives Idenburg Liu (SO–IL).

At Art Omi Pavilions, SO–IL has conceived five distinct but interconnected structures, creating a space that allows multiple exhibitions of Aboriginal and Contemporary Australian art to exist within a unified architectural experience.

The firm brings an internationally recognized approach to cultural architecture, with projects including Amant in Brooklyn, the Williams College Museum of Art, Kukje Gallery in Seoul, and the K11 Art and Cultural Center in Hong Kong. Most recently, SO–IL debuted the new flagship Issey Miyake store in Manhattan.

The Australia Pavilion is one of the distinct experiences that will continue to unfold across the Art Omi Pavilions campus as the project develops in phases - giving visitors new reasons to return and experience the landscape anew. #artomipavilions Renderings: Solid Objectives Idenberg Liu (SO—IL)
