They Both Die At The End by Adam Silvera
⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️.5

I saw this book all over #bookstagram and #booktok and had to get it. I thought the idea of the story was very interesting. It had me constantly asking myself while reading “do I wanna know my end day?” At first I was like “hell nah, let’s keep it a surprise please, tysm” but after reading through to the end I think I would maybe want to know? Because of these two boys, Mateo and Rufus, finding out they have the same end day they were able to really live their last day to their fullest. They got to tell their friends and family how much they love them and how they’ve really helped make an impact in their lives. They got to fall in love. That was really so damn sweet. But damn grieving is a mother fu…
I felt so much for Lidia in that last chapter of her getting the news and staying strong for her daughter. I couldn’t even imagine how I would feel losing my sweet cousin, Crystal and my best friend, Stephanie, and how hard it would be to live on without them in my life. So I’m just gonna say it here and now because unlike Mateo and Rufus, we don’t know when our last day is. I love you both so much. So, so, so much. 💕

I saw a quote that said “it’s not about the food, it’s about the people who fill the chairs” and it kinda made me more sad. It’s true though. And we will miss them dearly today and everyday.

Happy Thanksgiving. Or as happy as it can be today. Happy thanksgiving is more of just a thing to say. I’m so incredibly sorry for anyone grieving a loss and faced with an empty chair today. Those who haven’t felt that emptiness might not quite underhand. There are no expectations for how you have to feel, celebrate, or not celebrate. Ultimately, we know that holidays easily are trigger days and you may feel your grief triggered extra today. You’re allowed to appreciate and be thankful for what you have AND still mourn over all you lost. Today doesn’t have to be just about thanks. I do have a lot I am thankful for this thanksgiving, but there are a lot of people I miss. Miss you dad, Grandma, and Dexter.

Thanks again for @learningaboutgrief for asking the question about etiquette on thanksgiving. What others should or shouldn’t say to a griever. The prompt motivated me to create the response on the second post.

The last post was the handles of some fellow grievers I saw commented on the thanksgiving post which I shared the other day. I’m really bad at relying to comments or messages but I just wanted to share my condolences to each of you... and everyone grieving today. Please feel free to share below who you’re missing today, any happy memories or reasons you are thankful, or a mixture of emotions. It’s an open space if you just want to get something off your chest today. 💛🦃🦃🦃🖤
