I’m not generally a person to love eye brushes- maybe because I didn’t own many eyeshadows. I was mostly a one and done cream eyeshadow person. Then, something drove me to discover one Tom Ford palette this summer(yes, I know I’m late to the game) and I bought 5 more 😅. So I guess I bought a few brushes and they were okay. Until I bought Sonia G eye brushes and specially this alpine series eye duo. Should I complete the set? I have Alpine 6 and 8 from Sonia G’s Alpine eye set — should I add Alpine 5 and Alpine 7 ? Alpine 8 is making a very convincing case but I do have pencil an blender brushes. Alpine 8 has the most unique shape — it’s a big brush, but it applies directionally into my creases so well. It’s soft, and depending on the angle I hold it, it does so many different things. The details: 🖌️ Sonia G Alpine Series Eye Set — limited edition, inspired by the Swiss Alps 🐐 Yashabushi-dyed saikoho goat — the grey dye (from Japanese Green Alder) is all about airiness and softness 🏔️ Alpine 8: tapered, 20mm bristles (longest of the four) — airy laydown, dense at the base, wispy at the tip 🏔️ Alpine 6: dense and domed, 10mm — an “oversized pencil” for small circular motions 🤔 The ones I don’t have: Alpine 5 (airy pencil for detail work) and Alpine 7 (blender + crease in one My take: 1️⃣ Alpine 6 vs my Mini Essentials dome brush → same shape family, but the Alpine 6 is a little smaller and blends more diffused way. 2️⃣ Yashabushi vs my kakishibu brushes → I have a few of her kakishibu eye brushes now and love them, but the yashabushi bristles are softer — this series is made for blending eyeshadow softly. 3️⃣ The face brush → ALP3 is the face version of ALP8’s silhouette — launched in April, limited edition, sold out with no restock news. #hallowenfude2026 today’s brush pair duo is Sonia g sheer buffer with @makeupforever hd foundation and I usually mix it with either Mac Studio fix or Laura mercier foundation. Idk why I tend to mix my foundations. I feel like a scientist 😂 jk . I am trying to get the best color match as I suck at choosing shades online ! Using the sheer buffer does a great job at stippling my foundation, has a good surface area and it does it rather quickly . I don’t find any streakiness with this brush. And I do like the handles ! Sky Series Jumbo Blender - Suqqu Mono Look Eyes in Sukeakari (L-104) This one brush, one shadow combination is how I roll much of the time. I often reach for a sheer, shimmery shade to brighten my eyes and complement it with a light coat of mascara and a brightening pencil along my lower waterline—second photo, Chantecaille Brightening Eye Kajal in Nude and Surratt Relevee Mascara in Noir. The Jumbo Blender is a fluffy, soft, and reliable brush. It’s plush, offers some resistance, and maintains its density from base to tip. An A+ tactile experience in my book. Sonia G @soniagbrushes Maki-e collection face brushes 1st Edition February 2026. I just realized that I haven't posted about my Maki-e face brushes, even though I took the first photos on the 1st of March; I wanted to get to know the brushes and write my thoughts afterward, but I just realized that months have gone by. The Maki-e Sunset Cranes face brush 1st Edition A stunning very big face brush bundled with the longest, softest saibikoho goat bristles that glide like silk over the skin. The size is similar to the Tradition series TF1. The saibikoho bristles are so silky that the Maki-e version feels airier and has more give even if they are of similar density (same ferrule size and 50mm bristlelength). I haven't used this brush often, only because I have a mental block about dipping pure white bristles in bronzer and rubbing them over cream blush. I've tried the brush with loose powder and finishing powder. These bristles apply a light, natural-looking, invisible veil of powder. It does the same with bronzer, giving a natural-looking finish. My fude friends know the feeling of admiring a brush, pet the bristles, and having a #fudemoment. This is my perfect "fude moment" brush 🥰. Sunset Cranes face brush must be one of the most impressive saibikoho brushes I've touched or seen. It's a glorious and functional gem ✨️. Japanese Gardens face brush 1st Edition. The mix of white Canadian squirrel bristles with saikoho is perfect. The brush is plush, soft, and still has good structure. This "slanted pom-pom" brush has been a true multitasking face brush. I've used it regularly, mainly for blush, but it works excellently with all powder products, such as for targeted bronzer, setting small areas, etc. I often layer blushes and use the same face brush for several products. The Japanese Gardens Maki-e face brush has become one of my favorite Sonia G brushes. Sonia G Maki-e Japanese Gardens Brush — Fude Friday feature 🌸 The third maki-e release is finally in my hands, and the unboxing was half the experience — a mizuhiki crane knotted over the wrapping, the black box with the gold maki-e logo, and then this handle. All pictures after the unboxing videos are after I washed the brush. The details: 🖌️ White Canadian squirrel + saikoho goat — silky squirrel softness with the structure and resilience of saikoho. 📏 172 mm total · 95 mm handle · 30 mm bristles 🔺 Gently convex, slanted and pinched ferrule — a slightly flattened front with softly curved edges. Work it head-on for soft diffusion, or sideways for precision. 🎨 The maki-e artwork: the quiet beauty of dusk — lantern-lit gardens and moonlit paths, with cherry blossoms, ginkgo and maple leaves scattered down the handle. Comparisons from my collection: 1️⃣ Sonia G Alpine 2 → this was supposed to be the same shape and size as the Alpine 2, but it’s not — and I like it better this way. I know there was some chatter about that and Sonia clarified in her latest blog. 2️⃣ Koyudo Yoshiki 3D (yashabishu-dyed bristles) → in side view, the Japanese Gardens brush’s shape is actually more similar to the 3D than to the more rounded Alpine 2.
