Some seasons we plant, some seasons we harvest.

As Abraham Hicks would say, “when it feels good, milk it!” 💦

Milking it alllll tonight as I flip through moments from the past 10 days… milking it all for every night I was up late questioning if it was all gonna work out.

It does.
It will.

Tonight I’m reminded that the seeds we water with our passionate love and pure intention will flower in good time.

Not yet doesn’t mean not ever.

If you’re reading this I pray that your seeds are bearing some juicy fruit for you to savor this season too… and if not yet, I pray you stay faithfully patient.

I pray you keep showing up and saying ‘yes’ to invitations that excite you.

All the big love you deserve + desire awaits 🌱

Thanks for being here — if it’s been a min, let’s hug + hang IRL soon pls 🌻💫

What a magical night at the Peabody Essex Museum celebrating the women and girls we serve in India! After hearing inspirational words from Suketu Mehta and Karam Hinduja, having a live auction hosted by the incredible CK Swett, and listening to the beautiful music of Sonia Rao, the evening couldn’t be more special for us. Despite this year having the smallest Lotus Festival hosted (due to COVID restrictions), the funds raised on this evening went above and beyond thanks to your enthusiastic support!

NEW SONG IS OUT!

"Being Belonging"

To listen to the whole track, hit that link in bio.
Available on Soundcloud, Bandcamp, YouTube

********

This song is meant to be a kind of mantra for anybody who experiences what it is like to be at once an insider and an outsider.

I started writing it in February, as a way to understand my personal experiences of trying to honor and explore my core being while also seeking meaningful belonging in the place I live. For my birthday, I invited some dear friends whose lives are deeply intersectional to share their experiences, requesting in lieu of gifts their answer to one question: When was a time in your life when you truly felt like you BELONGED?

Their experiences broadened my own sense of what I was trying to say, and made me realize the beauty and power of choosing to be an outsider, and the way that being and belonging are actually constant states of development.

But then months went by because although I had very specific artistic inspirations (@thewongjanice and @blinkbillmusic among them) and even a crappy demo, I needed a talented collaborator to bring the full vision of this song to life. Enter @nrbproductions (with sumptuous lunches and great vocal coaching from @ebonybuckleofficial), who helped me make this song my favorite recorded work thus far over the course of a few days in July, blissfully just before the UK made travel from Sierra Leone much more difficult (true insider/outsider business).

This photo was shot by @kalpeshlathigra with an achingly gorgeous crown by @gaiaerosflorals. Clothes by @rhophyscouture with styling from @ami_kane.

I dedicate this song to myself, to my husband @moinina_s and, when they are ready to absorb its message, to our daughters Nyaanina Sophia and Peynina Athena.
