Another week in my life as a professional flute player in New York City 🗽🪈💖

One of my favorite things about being a freelance musician is the variety! This week was good balance of teaching, chamber music with @sonoracollective, and @ragtimemusical at @lctheater 🎶

Looking forward to returning to @helmcontemporary with @sonoracollective this Friday for a private reception and performance💚🎶🖼️ There are a few seats available for our guests, so send a DM if you are interested in joining us!

This clip is from our performance at Helm last spring, where we performed Ginastera’s Impresiones de la Puna along with other works for flute and strings. 🪈🎻✨

Sonora Collective had a wonderful time sharing music with audience members at Grace Farms on February 24th! 🪈 🎻 ✨

Our co-directors @katieflute and @juliadanitz also had the chance to sit down and chat with Grace Farms Music Director @theothermarcusmiller about the origins of chamber music and the mission of our collective.

A big thank you to Grace Farms for having us play in your beautiful and welcoming space and to all the enthusiastic audience members who came to listen!

We might be a month into 2024, but it’s still technicallyyyy January so I’m going to share a quick 2023 recap of ✨selected musical highlights✨

part 1:

1. January- Gave lots of online lessons to eager fluties wanting to return to music in 2023! (When the flute room still had white walls hehe)
2. More Jan.-@charles_ives_music_festival Soirée at the National Arts Club [@nationalartsclub], playing Reena Esmail [@reenaesmail] with the one and only @leahferg photo by @catherinehancockphotography
3. February- Got inspired by listening to so many young, talented flutists while judging the New York Flute Club Competition [@nyfluteclub]
4. More Feb.- Mozart y música mexicana with York Symph [@york_symphony] (and fun Valentine’s day nails hehe spot the heart 🫶🏻)
5. March- One of those moments when you finally get to put an excerpt into context— a piccolo moment in Ravel Piano Concerto with the amazing @terrence88keys and the Reading Symph [@readingsymphonyorchestra]
6. More March- finally got my hands on The World’s Most Beautiful Flutes thanks to the @flutecenterofficial and @nyenyezihorns flutes (still dreaming about these babies 😫😍)
7. Even more March- flute room coming together but still a WIP
8. Last bit of March- Bucketlist piece! Playing Ginastera Flute and Oboe Duo with the fabulous @hsuanfong as part of Sonora Collective’s [@sonoracollective] Spring Fundraiser concert at Jane Ives Studio [@janeivesstudio]
9. April- a duet moment with my special cousin who newly began playing the flute. Feels like a full circle moment since one of my older cousins inspired ME to play the flute when I was this age. 🥹💓
10. A little more April- Rachmaninoff celebration with York Symphony Orchestra
11. May- the most epic glitter and eyeliner that wouldn’t wash off until a week after the most epic gig that I can’t share pictures of aka playing with Lizzo and 17 other rockstar flutists at the Met Gala.
12. May- Giving the world premiere of Paul Frucht’s [@paulfruchtmusic] There Are Stars, commissioned by Sonora Collective at @hashimotocontemporary photo by @esmelkinunez 💫 🤍
13. June- Outdoor concert szn. Beethoven 3 with Berks Sinfonietta [@berks.sinfonietta] ☀️
