💉🧫🧬 gap year job: derm medical assistant pov 💉🧫🧬

in my @alamatscrubs 🤸🏽‍♀️

so i know that derm gets this rep of being a
"super easy specialty" but man have i learned a lot since i got here. there's definitely some burnout with interacting with patients day in and day out, but i'm learning how to set boundaries, not accept verbal abuse, and practice self care at home.

what's really exciting is that i enjoy working with geriatric populations and in this job i see many elderly folks who are dealing with cases of skin cancer, shingles, or just full body rashes due to age. your skin definitely changes with age and the elderly population do tend to visit dermatologists more often.

for a typical day at work, i usually spend half the day at reception - sending in perscriptions, managing refills and prior auths, and handling other admin matters. the other half of the day is medical assistant work - surgeries, procedures, labs and testing.
