Life lately! It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these. Probably says it all that I had to scroll back through the last month to remind myself what I’ve actually been up to 😂

I blinked and missed September. Seriously where did that go. Then jumpers came out, the heating finally on (thanks husband at last 🙄) and the kids have been absolutely crawling towards half term absolutely knackered.

I’m in the middle of changing roles at work, have been up and down to London a fair bit, we went to a wedding and then it was my birthday. I got to spend the weekend celebrating with lots of people I love which was lush.

This weekend I’ve enjoyed doing very little. Much needed as I could feel the balance tipping a bit too far towards tiredness this past week. Thankfully I’m off next week with the kids. Ive finally got round to taking some statutory parental leave. Figured I better take it before they no longer want to hang out with an uncool mum anymore! Looking forward to a week of doing ordinary things together, just mooching about really. The sort of days I remember having with my mum when I was little.

I have found myself feeling quite reflective lately. Maybe it’s because I’m another year closer to a big birthday. Ive been thinking a lot about where I want to spend my time, who I want to spend it with and how much time we waste overthinking things (I’m so guilty of this!) I have not come to any great conclusions. But I do know I feel very grateful for my lot. And I keep coming back to how much joy there is in the little things if you actually stop to notice them.

Lately it’s been a pretty tiled floor, a text from a friend for no reason other than to make me smile, a colourful pair of socks, xmas Costa cups, a really good breakfast, a thoughtful gift, the kettle whistling when it’s blowing a bloomin gale outside, and getting beaten by my ten year old at a board game last night.

Nothing particularly extraordinary but lovely all the same. And I’m thinking these little things are worth noticing. Is it the more you notice joy the more you seem to find joy?

Happy Sunday!

A lovely day at her home in Wiltshire yesterday hosted by @sophieconran, where we enjoyed talks by @thelandgardeners on dahlias and the importance of soil and compost. A garden tour and propagating workshop with @the_batches and a delicious lunch prepared by Ivan made for a memorable day. Thank you @jacquiecox for suggesting it! Educational and fun, my head is bursting with information and my cuttings are snugly growing (I hope).

More to come on substack soon.
Happy weekend one and all 💕
