THE THIRD HORIZON On June 11, filmmaker and artist Kordae Jatafa Henry returns to Baltimore for an evening of film, conversation, and sound at Library Nineteen. Bringing together Makara, Earth Mother, Sky Father, and an excerpt from IF NOT NOW, THE THIRD HORIZON presents a triptych of films exploring ritual, mythology, ecology, memory, and Black futurity through what Henry describes as “spiritual cinema.” Born in Prince George’s County and shaped through his time studying architecture at Morgan State University, Henry returns with a body of work that merges film, performance, animation, music, and speculative worldbuilding into an expanded cinematic experience. Following the screening, Henry will be joined by writer, curator, and art historian Angela N. Carroll and 3D animator and video game transmedia artists Jeremy Kamal Hartley for a conversation on Black visual culture, music, worldbuilding, and the future of cinematic storytelling. My goal to create accessible workshop where queer people can learn a trade skill such as Sewing, build the skill into a creative service/product to start a business or creative practice builds confidence, wellness and autonomy to create a thriving environment for themselves.
