🎶 Introducing the In Motion 2026 cohort. The third cohort of our flagship artist development programme, In Motion, brings together 10 brilliant creators from across the UK. Now in its third year, In Motion continues to build on the legacy of our artist development work while responding to the changing needs of today’s creators. Over the next 18 months, these artists will be supported through funding, mentoring, coaching, peer support and tailored professional development, giving them the space and confidence to explore ambitious ideas, evolve their practice and take their work further. The In Motion 2026 cohort reflects the richness and originality of new music in the UK today. Their work moves across improvisation, ritual, memory, technology, ecology, diaspora, voice, movement, data, place and performance. The selected artists are: ⭐️ Alex Hitchcock @abhitchcock ⭐️ Amy Bryce @amycomposer ⭐️ Belinda Zhawi @ma.moyo ⭐️ Christo Squier @christosquier ⭐️ Elischa Kaminer @mosesxsalome ⭐️ Hannah Lou Larsen @hannahloularsen ⭐️ Roxanna Albayati @roxhsana ⭐️ SEAYOOL @seayool ⭐️ Simmy Singh @simviolin ⭐️ Sofia Grant @sofia.grant._ At Sound and Music, we believe artists need time, trust and meaningful support to take risks, grow their networks, reach audiences and sustain creative careers. In Motion is a space for reflection, experimentation, connection and growth. Sound and Music is a @prsfoundation Talent Development Network Partner supported by @ppluk. In Motion 2026 is made possible with the generous support of @aceagrams, @prsfoundation, The Cockayne Foundation and @soundukarts. 🔗 Meet the artists and read their Q&As via the link in our bio! #SoundandMusic #InMotion2026 #FundedbyPRSF #NewMusic #ArtistDevelopment

🥳 Celebrating Nature Calling and our role as one of the 6 main hubs across the country! 🧑‍🎨 Led by @natlandassoc and @activate_parts, Nature Calling had a big ambition to commission artists to co-create incredible artworks with communities who might not have easy access to nature and art. 🎥 Today we’re sharing the Nature Calling films and the final evaluation report! 🔉 Here in the Mendip Hills, we worked in partnership with @superculturewsm and communities from Weston-super-Mare to commission 3 fantastic artists: @gwyneth_herbert @jasonsinghthing and @chrishoward001 through @soundukarts The result was VIVO - an awe inspiring, immersive sound installation that took over a town centre shop, reaching a live audience of 948 people over 1 week. An audience of 4,000 people also engaged with outdoor augmented reality trails located across Weston and Mendip! Across the whole @naturecalling25 programme, the numbers tell their own story: -8,258 active participants (the target was 4,923). -A live audience of over 55,000 people. -Online and digital audiences surpassed 550,000 (the target was 4,933). Head to naturecalling.org.uk to watch the full film or to mendiphills-nl.org.uk/news/nature-calling to watch the film about VIVO - you can listen to the final piece here too! 🙏 Thank you to everyone involved - we’re looking forward to exploring more of the landscape together through the arts! Thanks also to Arts Council England and Defra for funding Nature Calling. #naturecalling #outdoorart #artinthelandscape #lovethemendips #loveweston

For over 25 years, Terje Isungset and his collaborators have been exploring the acoustic possibilities of natural ice, harvested from frozen lakes. Carved in Norway, the instruments - including ice harp, ice horn, iceophone, ice percussion and ice bass, are kept frozen, travelling by ice trailer when on tour. Isungset’s Ice Quartet is returning to the UK this month, with seven dates around England starting this Sunday. Head to the venue’s website to book tickets: 🧊 Sun 16 Nov: Canterbury @thegulbenkian 🧊 Tue 18 Nov: Basingstoke @anvil_arts 🧊 Wed 19 Nov: Poole @lighthousepoole 🧊 Thu 20 Nov: Leeds @howardassemblyroom 🧊 Fri 21 Nov: Bristol @stgeorgesbris 🧊 Sat 22 Nov: Southampton @turner_sims 🧊 Sun 23 Nov: London @kingsplacelondon The tour is produced by @soundukarts In 1999, Terje was commissioned to write music for a concert under a frozen waterfall in Lillehammer, Norway. He decided to use elements from the river itself as musical instruments in his composition; stones, wood and finally – ice. Terje explains, “I took the sound from underneath the waterfall, and then I hit the ice. I thought it was so beautiful. It was like falling in love.” Discovering the sounds of natural ice opened up a whole new range of sonic possibilities for Terje, his ice journey had begun.
