Working with great producers taught me how much their support matters to everyone involved. To help the productions I hope to bring to life find their footing and their way, I realized I needed to be as equipped as possible.

A few weeks into the @bethmorrisonprojects Producer Academy, the training has been practical and clarifying. I‘m glad to be learning alongside this cohort, and very grateful to the best facilitator @alexis_peart for guiding us through it!

Part of why I have been laying low is that I have been training as a producer with Beth Morrison Projects, the organization that, among other things, launched the Pulitzer Prize-winning opera, "Angel's Bone". Another month of boot camp with this amazing cohort, then- world, beware!

I’ve been producing @bethmorrisonprojects productions for years with @verdigrisensemble. So when I got the email that I was accepted into the Producer Academy, I was so honored.

It’s been such a joy talking with other producers about how to make a good show. Comparing notes, talking about the challenging parts, and sharing experiences are some of the most priceless things that this program brings.

Excited to continue the journey with some incredible producers! And thanks to @alexis_peart for leading the charge and being an incredible facilitator.

Five weeks of punching, stabbing and slashing and two @fdcacademy certification courses later

The action shots are all from the intermediate cohort (thanks to @pitharaya for the pics) but I had the chance of working with amazing people from all over the country and beyond at Basic in Edmonton and Intermediate in Montréal. I hope we cross blades again soon

A little photo dump from the past few months between Edmonton and Toronto: sooo much music, shenanigans, campfires, petting the best dog, and time with people I love 🤍

@ssmfoperafest @sewaneemusicfest has absolutely changed my life!! I thoroughly enjoyed working with such incredible faculty and wonderful colleagues. This program was exactly what I needed. It challenged me and allowed me to grow in such a short amount of time. @lbrice313 and @jmstenor as well as the rest of the faculty, I hope you know just how much we all appreciate and admire you! To all my friends and colleagues that I have gained through Sewanee OperaFest, I hope to run into you again soon. I will never forget my time here..

my sewanee angels 🪽💜🐯

words cannot describe just how spoiled I was to participate in my first ever summer program with @ssmfoperafest!

In three short weeks, I have met the most sweetest, talented, thoughtful, and genuine people I wouldn’t have ever dreamed of meeting. Thank you for being a reminder of what makes music so special - can’t wait to see where y’all end up 🫶🫶🫶

I cannot thank the amazing faculty enough for their guidance and ability to transform every single vocalist during our time on the mountain. Until we meet again!!!

Beautiful music. Beautiful place. Beautiful people.

Operafest was such a thrill! To spend three weeks immersed in music making with some of the most supportive people was a dream. Not only are the faculty ridiculously knowledgeable, they encouraged and championed each one of us to grow- no matter where we were on our singing journey.

I’ve loved every single person I’ve met and worked with, and I can’t thank them all enough!
