Yesterday we did a recon ride for the Levi’s Gran Fondo to get a real sense of what awaits on this brutal course. Fueled by coffee and croissants, we headed up to The Geysers - an hour in red zone but rewarded with unreal views, and a good reminder of what race day will demand.

We rolled back down and finished the day the right way at @skipstonewines Winery with great wine and charcuterie. Hard to imagine a better way to build some buzz for the upcoming race.

The Specialized Tarmac SL8 Artist Edition project was a special one. I didn’t design a single thing here, I was just a helping hand for three amazing artists to create their visions. Huge thank you to @pietparra @ynhp and @lucas_beaufort for delivering such a diverse range of amazing work. And a massive thank you to @tammy_su_ for helping with all the production of these bikes, they would not have happened without her. A big thank you also to @spaceagency and the whole marketing team as well. Stoked to see these beautiful bikes out in the world.

Trying to find a new way to look at cycling. I don’t expect to find it any time soon. But finally feeling like I won’t do more damage to my back and having a new bike definitely helps. Baby steps.

Some BTS from the most amazing trip and job (?!) I could only dream of a year ago. Lilo, a restaurant that @ericbost and I have been working on for nearly four years, is opening this Spring. I think it’s going to be something really special…

@restaurantlilo will be an intimate, 22-seat chef’s counter, where we aim to harness the untamed spirit of the California coast and the world’s shorelines through a celebratory tasting menu and immersive dining experience rooted in a thoughtful connection to nature.

The name Lilo means, “A friendship that can lay dormant for years, and then pick back up instantly, as if no time had passed since you last saw each other.”

We hope to make many such friendships beginning this Spring.
