We are so excited to announce that applications are open for FAROUT Murals 2026! Come join us in beautifying the lovely town of Walsenburg, Colorado. We were able to pull together last minute funding for 6+ murals thanks to the wonderful Spanish Peaks Community Foundation and San Isabel Electric Association. The event will take place over Memorial Day Weekend (May 21-24) and an $800 honorarium and room and board will be provided to participating artists. Additional information is listed in the application.

The timeline for this project is unusually short this year! Please get your applications by midnight on April 15th!

Local legend and mural artist Conor Boynton Orr has taken over management for FAROUT Murals, for any questions or if you would like to sponsor the event, please reach out to Downtownwalsenburg@gmail.com

We are excited to announce our second mural opportunity for 2022, a large-scale portrait mural for our first installment of “People of Southern Colorado. We are looking for one artist to paint a large-scale, portrait-style mural of a historical/cultural figure from the region, embellished with their style and color palette. FAROUT’s goal is to utilize art and creativity to not only preserve the history of the area but also tell the stories of the many unsung heroes of the land and explain the diversity of Southern Colorado. A list of cultural figures is provided in the application for inspiration. Find the Portrait Mural opportunity with the link in our bio, or on faroutmurals.com

Our updated sponsor list! We received food, drinks and goodies for our artists, as well as over $1400 in sponsorship support! All additional funding will go directly to our ARTBOX program in the month of July.

This is one of the largest pool of support the FAROUT team has ever seen in Huerfano! We are so proud of our community, and are energized to create more artistic opportunities for the county.
