Notice no striped bass in this picture and if we don’t do something this will be what becomes of the most iconic and important inshore fishery from Virginia to Maine Please step up and do your part by emailing your state’s commissioner The ASMFC made a commitment to anglers to rebuild the striped bass stock. The bass are overfished and overfishing has occurred. Doesn’t matter what side you’re on, if we let this species collapse it’s on us. Here’s the link to the email addresses of each state’s commissioners. Thank you! http://www.asmfc.org/about-us/commissioners. #fishing #stripedbass #respecttheresource #stripercoast #passion #sunset #beach #summer #longislandfishing

This just has to be something...the kids and I saw this buried in muck next to a creek on a trail we found, so I did the logical thing and went out the next morning to backpack it out of the woods. It’s an old creosote treated beam or piling from something, maybe from one of the early 1900s warehouses on Ft Belvoir that washed down the stream years ago. It’ll take a year to dry probably but I’ll be cutting it down to help speed that up.

Done! This is my second complete build (previously bought necks and built bodies). Five string bass; Katalox top, ambrosia maple back; neck through of Wenge/Purpleheart/Birdseye Maple; Bartolini BD5DBC pickups covered with Katalox and spalted Walnut; Aguilar OBP-3 preamp. Woods from @colonialhardwoods in Springfield VA. Thanks to Dad @gpbesaw for the master woodworking tips and luthier @spazzocaster for the extra encouragement, too. #aguilarelectronics #bartolinipickups @bartolinipups #amateurluthier #luthier #luthiery #bassguitar #fivestring #guitar #baixo #scrollbass
