@jalinankl 🍜 From the first conversations with @aarondotk earlier this year to opening day, it’s been a privilege to be part of Jalinan’s launch journey. Immensely grateful to Aaron, @aaronphuachubby and @bimmysoh for trusting me to help share Jalinan’s narrative. Congratulations to the entire team on what has become one of KL’s most exciting new openings! The passion, care and sheer hard work this team has poured into both Jalinan and @fifty_tales —and getting a glimpse into the culture they’ve built—has been incredible to witness. Swipe for the details. (And yes, the copies are shamelessly lifted from the press release. 🤓) Six years after introducing Fifty Tales, founders Aaron Khor, Aaron Phua, and Bimmy Soh embark on a new chapter with the unveiling of Jalinan, a Malaysian noodle bar nestled in the heart of TTDI. Guided by wonder, preservation, and intentionality, Jalinan invites guests to rediscover familiar flavours through a lens of curiosity. Derived from the Malay word meaning “to weave”, Jalinan celebrates the cultural exchanges, traditions, and stories that have shaped Malaysian cuisine. The illustrations on the menu are hand-drawn by @aarondotk. The Jalinan logo subtly incorporates the Chinese character “面” (miàn), meaning noodles, symbolising the role noodles play in connecting Malaysia’s diverse communities. Guided by wonder, preservation, and intentionality, Jalinan invites guests to rediscover familiar flavours through a lens of curiosity. The menu is built around the restaurant’s signature handmade egg noodles. All warmed up and ready to go! The Sea Prawn Sambal Goreng (RM99) reinterprets a Northern Peranakan classic with grilled sea prawns, sambal goreng sauce, bebuas oil, pickled losun, and charred cassava leaves. Apple Kerabu (RM32) paying homage to Northern Peranakan flavours, combining fresh herbs, edible flowers, apples, hand-pounded chilli paste, udang geragau, and tempeh crumb. “We want everyone to feel at home at Jalinan. As Anak Malaysia, we felt a responsibility to celebrate our local cuisine with a deeper level of reverence.” says Aaron Khor. @jalinankl, a Malaysian noodle bar in the heart of TTDI by @fifty_tales Aaron Khor, Aaron Phua and Bimmy Soh. Named after the Malay word meaning “to weave”, Jalinan celebrates the cultures, stories and flavours that have shaped Malaysian cuisine. Rooted in heritage yet embracing evolution, the restaurant invites diners to rediscover familiar flavours through a lens of curiosity, wonder and intention. The founders once again collaborated with @studio_t_c_h_ Tan Chee Ho, creating a design-led yet approachable space that feels both purposeful and welcoming. Warm lighting, natural materials, and thoughtful details set the tone for a dining experience that is refined without being formal. “We want everyone to feel at home at Jalinan,” says Aaron Khor. “Our culture is not something preserved in a capsule. Beyond preservation, there must be room for evolution, discovery, and new interpretations. Jalinan represents the beautiful weaving together of different cultures, narratives, and flavours. As Anak Malaysia, we felt a responsibility to celebrate our local cuisine with a deeper level of reverence.” From the menu: 🍜Dry Laksa Ulam RM39 - inspired by the flavours and composition of Nasi Ulam 🦐Prawn Soto RM42 - fragrant broth made from a housemade soto paste and ming prawn bisque 🍜Mee Rebus RM39 is inspired by a memorable bowl Aaron Khor enjoyed at a longstanding Capital Cafe in Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman 🍎Apple Kerabu RM32 pays homage to Northern Peranakan flavours 🐟Urap Ikan RM52 presents red snapper with herbs, vegetables, and toasted coconut, accompanied by bayam fritters and fresh kaduk leaves 🦐 Sea Prawn Sambal Goreng RM99 reinterprets a Northern Peranakan classic 🐄Beef Gulai Tiga Sekawan RM99 brings together beef belly, tongue, and tail in a rich gulai enriched with caramelised coconut milk and daun semomok ⏰Close every Wednesday Dinner: Thursday to Tuesday, 6pm to 11pm Lunch: Saturday and Sunday, 12pm to 4pm 📍Jalinan, 3, Lorong Datuk Sulaiman 7, Taman Tun Dr Ismail

Beyond the rhythm of the city, we stepped into a space still quietly taking shape — Jalinan , our boss’s second new outlet. Not officially open yet, but already telling its story through an intimate tasting experience. Rooted in the rich palette of Malaysian and Southeast Asian flavours, each dish is carefully composed — balancing heritage with a contemporary expression. Herbs and natural aromatics are used with intention and restraint, creating layers that feel familiar, yet subtly unfamiliar — as if something known is being reimagined in a new light. What makes the experience even more meaningful is the presence of the people behind it. Chefs and collaborators gathered together, turning each dish into more than food — but a reflection of craft, care, and connection. This is not simply a preview of a menu. It is an unfolding narrative of flavour, people, and space coming together. @jalinankl
