Last year’s Fashion Conversations sparked more than a few conversations of its own. This year, five fantastic designers join us for Fashion Conversations with Coffee, Sunday 20 September, 9.30am – 11am, at Anantara The Marker, Grand Canal Quay. Lucy Downes is the founder and creative director of Sphere One, Ireland’s leading luxury cashmere brand. Formerly a designer for Donna Karan in New York, she’s celebrated for innovative knitwear, technical excellence and sustainable craftsmanship. Christine Murphy is the founder and creative director of Urban Aran, an independent contemporary Irish knitwear brand, balancing edgy, contemporary visuals with classic, historical Aran stitch work. Sharon Hoey is co-founder and designer of AndTate, known for glamorous, tailored dresses, skirts and blouses in luxurious and unusual fabrics, created at her Merrion Street boutique. Anna Guerin founded The Landskein in 2019 to showcase contemporary Irish tailoring through heritage textiles, particularly Donegal tweed, designing timeless coats and jackets with a modern, unstructured silhouette. Eileen Shields is a New York-based footwear designer known for imaginative, handcrafted shoes with sustainability a key priority, designing bespoke pieces for international celebrities and design-conscious clients worldwide. THE WORLD OF MARIA GRACHVOGEL: The celebrated fashion designer Ahead of her return to London Fashion Week at the end of next week, Maria Grachvogel joins us at DWD26 to celebrate her long association with Nikki Creedon and @havanaboutique in Donnybrook, and the 20th birthday of her incredible Magic Trousers. For three decades, Maria’s pioneering and intuitive approach to designing clothes has put the joy of the wearer first, creating timeless and empowering pieces which make women look and feel their very best. Beloved of many well-known women around the world, Maria has a vast and varied clientele who appreciate the confidence and comfort her elegant and flattering clothes deliver. Drawing on an unusually architectural approach, she combines structure with fluidity to achieve her signature silhouette. Each piece is designed and cut in her London atelier, and she has always made the patterns herself, incredibly rare in the world of luxury fashion. An exceptionally talented designer, Maria has always combined creativity with clever commerciality, and has flexed and pivoted to future-proof the Maria Grachvogel business without compromising on design, service and quality.
