From Long Island classrooms to the legendary Carnegie Hall, the Fern Joan Foundation is helping to create opportunities for young people to experience the transformative power of the arts.
On October 16, students from Westbury, Hempstead, and Uniondale High Schools attended a complimentary concert featuring the extraordinary Sphinx Virtuosi, celebrating 30 years of musical excellence and impact.
More than a concert, it was an opportunity to explore the arts beyond the classroom, discover new possibilities, and experience the power of music and culture in one of the world’s most historic venues.
At the Fern Joan Foundation, we believe every young person deserves access to experiences that inspire curiosity, nurture creativity, and broaden horizons.

A heartfelt thank you to Sphinx Virtuosi and school Administrators whose support helped make this experience possible.

🎻 What a special night at the @SphinxOrg 30th Anniversary Gala honoring actor Delroy Lindo @TheAuthenticDelroyLindo at the Russian Tea Room in New York City!

Violinist Randall Goosby @ItsGooz shared a special reunion with actor Delroy Lindo, who over a decade ago invited a 13-year-old Randall to perform at a Beverly Hills gala after he became the youngest-ever winner of the Sphinx Concerto Competition.

A truly full-circle moment ✨

I am deeply saddened by the passing of the extraordinary Martina Arroyo. Interviewing her at SphinxConnect in 2017 was such a joy, and an experience I will always treasure.
Martina helped change who could stand on opera’s greatest stages, then devoted herself to preparing young artists to take their own place there. Her generosity as a teacher stands alongside her magnificent voice in how we remember her. Hitting the road for a six-city tour, where I’ll have the incredible honor of performing with @sphinxvirtuosi the world premiere of ‘Declaration’ ,a powerful and poignant new work composed by @dgeter with libretto by @aaronpdworkin.
