Happy birthday to Tyler 🎉

We had another wonderful day of gaming.

We continued our campaign of Roll Player Adventures Scenario 3. It continues to impress us. We added the expansion in and am having a fun time exploring the personal stories it adds. So far we are kinda leaning on the evil side and it's been funny seeing that play out through helping the bad guys out in this adventure game 😈.

The next game we played was Acropolis. It felt similar to Cascadia with tile laying. I ended up winning my first time playing. Very fun and can be a brain burner for sure with all the 3d elements it adds.

Lastly, I played my first game of ArkNova. This game is fun and has a ton of variety to it. I do find it funny how some things don't make a ton of sense thematically, like I had a giant polar bear exhibit ai built but wasn't allowed to put a bear in it 🤣. Got second place on this one 🎉

Love having a group to play all these great games with. Tyler is a great guy and glad he invited me to hang for his birthday.

Tonight I brought Roll Player Adventures to the group.

@professormeg and @boardgameco put this game on my radar with their playthroughs, so when someone offered to trade me for it, I took them up.

The first scenario went smoothly. With four players I wasn't sure how quickly we could play, but it went by breezily. Immediately after finishing scenario one, my friends looked at the time and demanded, "ANOTHER!"

So we played scenario two.

SPOILERS -------------------

Scenario two impressed me. We thought we had our agenda in line for creating anarchy and being the dirtiest king's guard in the land.

We were supposed to find a lost girl, which we did, but not before murdering her two best troll friends.

In our defense, we witnessed these trolls savagely ripping pigs into pieces. We had helped free a pig from a poisonous scorpion earlier and ran into some halflings that enjoyed the pigs like family. So of course we were going to kill these trolls no questions asked once we followed them back to their cave 🐖 🐷.

After we saved the girl, the village had the nerve to reward us with a giant feast of ham, bacon and pork.

Such a great time. @game_knightsaz are down for us to binge this game and I'm all for it

When @thunderworksgames brings back the next Kickstarter campaign give this one a look. You really will have an adventure with your friends.

It felt good getting some boardgames in after not playing for a while.

Tonight we played Marvel DiceThrone. I've always enjoyed DiceThrone fine, but it usually felt samey after a bit. Getting straights felt like the main move to do for almost every character and I'd find myself just using one or two abilities from a character most of the time.

Marvel DiceThrone surprised me by how much more fleshed out the characters felt to avoid that problem.

We played 2v2 and the first game I was Black Widow. She was built around getting her upgrades (which I loved doing in the other versions). I got four upgrades out by the end of the game and it felt GOOD.

The second game I played Miles Morales. His character was built for combos so I would do one attack and that would chain into a second attack on most of my turns.

Loki was one of the villains. And he had this ability that would cover an attack on our board, forcing us to use different attacks.

The games felt really thematic too. Our second game, Thor was throwing his hammer at Captain Marvel over and over again. Towards the end of our game, Miles webbed both Thor and Loki, then on our next turn Captain Marvel was able to finish them off doing just enough damage that they couldn't defend against because they were webbed.

I held back from backing this one but I'm glad @spookygemz picked it up because it's my favorite set yet.

If you could only get one set, this would be my pick...even if they weren't Marvel characters.

We had a fantastic time hanging out and playing games this weekend.

@game_knightsaz @grays_games @spookygemz @ronrondaly and more all came out through the weekend.

We started off with the hotness of Foundations of Rome, a phenomenal tile laying game 🏛️. I thought it would be a good idea to sundrop the game myself, but I grossly underestimated the time it would take. Luckily between Bailie and my game we had enough ready for the five of us to play. This game is stellar and a must play if you get the chance.

The second game we played was Root. All I can say is don't play the Erie if you are bad at multitasking 😄. I went into turmoil twice by round four. Apparently I can't teach and play. Janine was doing a great job in my absence building all across the map. But it was a six point swing from a weakly guarded wood pile that shot Gray's Woodland Alliance into the victory.

Marvel United filled the next slot🦹‍♀️. We played the new villain mode with Loki and the traitor challenge mode. I played as Loki against Spider-Man, Beta Ray Bill, Hulk and Iron Man. We had a close game, but I lost.

We finished the night with Valor and Villainy. This game is my go to one vs many game. Tyler played the villain against the rest of us. Things looked bad for the hero side early on. We were surrounded by minions, not making xp, and struggling. But Gray had a powerful spell that cleared the board and caught us up by the mid game. On the final round we were down 2 deaths with one more left. My rogue was popping off with the help of the cleric buffing me and we got Tyler low on health. On the final turn Bailie launched a half dozen spells polymorphing the Boss before finishing him off 🐑! So epic.

We picked back up the next day when Callie could join us. We had an awesome pool party. Many Tarzan rope swings, great bbq chicken and stories.

Sadly, the weekend had to close and the ultimate victor was none other than Gray...who won every game! He got the trophy but not before we could decorate and write our spiteful notes all over it.

Had an amazing time and super appreciate Callie, Greg and Rebecca.

Here we go!

7 player game of Veiled Fate, first time playing. 🤪

Veiled Fate is a social deduction game where you secretly have a "god" you want to win the most favor through a series of quests.

The way it plays is you have 9 miniatures representing the different gods. The board is a giant circle with several quests spread across tarot cards. In your turn you can move any piece, often to a quest card to help either increase their favor, decrease favor, or smite them to the abyss (basically Monopoly jail) 😉

When you put a character on a quest you add a card. The quests typically had a good reward and a bad reward. If you wanted them to have the good reward you'd play a card matching the color of the reward you wanted (if you had it) face down. Once all the spots on the quest cards were filled, you'd do some final tweaks to the cards added and see what the result was.

Since we had a high player count, we were passed gods that were likely to have one other player also backing the same God.

The brown God quickly shot ahead early in our game. One of the players openly didn't care showing his support for him. And because he was winning by so much, we also suspected Grey to be playing him 🙄. (Grey wins most of our games and for the record we were right).

That God stayed ahead until we all managed to catch up the other gods in the final act. The vote came down to a third party and they sided with Black! @spookygemz and I happened to be backing that God. I had no idea the whole time 😆. Whoops.

Very fun and beautiful game!

Congrats to Mike for hitting 6k! He is easily one of my favorite people to chat with here on Instagram. I wish I had the creativity to post half as much quality content as he does.

In celebration of this milestone he asked us to pick a game that we love to solo for the #sologaminggoodness community. For my addition I picked Imperium: Classics/Legends. As everyone here knows I'm obsessed with deckbuilding games and this one will melt your brain. Each of the 16 extremely unique nations has it's own solo rules that emulate a real human opponent. And just like a real human opponent I usually lose to them.

Mike's dream is for the #sologaminggoodness tag to become a place for solo gamers to connect with each other and find new games to solo. So let's use this tag and help the community grow.

IG won't let me tag everyone in the pictures so here are the rest of the contributors that I couldn't squeeze in there:

When the group mentioned planning a day to get Nemesis to the table...I was a little spooked 😱

You have to know what you're signing up for when you play Nemesis. This game will put you on a doomed ship, infested with aliens, and your buddies, all while making you play every man for themselves!

Some players might die their first round. Or you might make it 12 turns just to see your buddy close the escape hatch on your face, leaving you to deal with the queen they just dragged in the room with you.

This game will make you laugh...and cry inside 😭

Thankfully our game was a blast. I was a scout, so I could get into rooms quietly without attracting too many aliens.

I started with a couple objectives but my main one was to either get us to Earth while destroying the alien nest on board, or screw that mission and just take the aliens and everyone else on my ship to Mars for the good of humanity.

Along my mission, I struck a friendship with a soldier also working to get our coordinates locked down. I verified our course WAS set for Mars, but after making a new friend, I thought maybe we could get to earth safely defeating the nest. I locked in our destination and started making for the nest.

The soldier and I snuck into the hive, suppressing aliens around us and grew quite the bond. We were making good work on the nest when the Mechanic on our ship decided to activate the self destruct sequence.

Well, the nest wasn't going to make it alive now, so we worked on our next goal of escaping. Before leaving, the soldier decided to take an egg as a souvenir, surely that wouldn't be a problem later 😉.

As Nemesis often goes, we were just outside the escape room when the mechanic decided to wake the queen and block our path.

I locked him in the room with the monster to make him think about what he just did. But it wasn't good enough. He ended up lighting the other escape pods on fire and from there every other room began to break down.

The soldier and I had our Titanic moment, going down with our love.

10 out of 10 would play again.

Been playing Wonderland's War to death since getting it. Just finished game three. Gotta make up for the 2 years of waiting for it since backing it. 😃

Every game I make some silly strategic mistakes but I keep learning. I had a bunch of madness chips in my bag this last game so battles were pretty tough, but I was going for a quest strategy to make up for that.

Every new person we teach this to comes away impressed with the presentation and mix of mechanics they love from other games.

Every game a different character has won so they all are really good.

There's a ton of replayability in this game.

This game is for you if
...you like games like Quacks or Blood Rage
...you like high production quality
...you enjoy area control
...you are okay with some luck

This game is not for you if
...you hate any luck in games
...you hate run away leaders (no catch up mechanics)
...you really don't like Alice in Wonderland themes

I'd play this game anytime someone asks. It feels fresh every time and I feel like I'm learning how to be a better player too.

I'm curious how you all are liking this game if you've given it a chance?
