Emerging from the heart of New York City’s underground music scene, @_stareaway_ is the brainchild of Ben Nelson, fusing post-punk intensity, dark romanticism, and a retro-coded aesthetic inspired by the alternative icons of the 1980s. His haunting melodies and brooding soundscapes feel both nostalgic and distinctly modern, creating a world all his own. Stare Away released his debut album, In Absence, via @alacarterecords in April 2026, marking a major step forward for the project. Since then, he’s continued building momentum through a relentless run of live shows, including a recent US tour with close friend and collaborator Casket Cassette, as well as shows alongside artists like Rosegarden Funeral Party and House of Harm. With an expanding audience and a busy year ahead, Stare Away will be touring extensively throughout 2027 across the US, UK, and EU. A modern take on dark romanticism, Stare Away turns isolation, nostalgia, and melancholy into something you can dance to.

Clown is the new EP from @spookystack . Funny and punctuated with musical and rhythmic hooks, Spookystack’s tunes burst through the speakers and straight through you. Think early DFA but younger, punkier, not yet mourning a lost edge. Spooky has been propelled forward through the underground this year, both solo and with his band @publiccircuitband , who recently opened for LCD Soundsystem, and then Lip Critic at an epic, sold out show at Music Hall of Williamsburg. Clown is his finest work yet.

Driven by brooding vocals, haunting guitar textures, hypnotic basslines, and atmospheric synthesizers, Jersey City’s @blxckflaming0 led by Kevin Garetz and Roberto Miranda, channel the shadowy pulse of post-punk, coldwave, and gothic rock through a modern lens. They create music that lives somewhere between the dance floor and the graveyard. Their songs explore themes of love, death, isolation, obsession, the occult, and the darker corners of the human experience.
