Fun and eventful hike during my trip to @visitdurango So this vlog was basically just about the bear 🐻 I had planned to keep hiking and sit down somewhere, eat a little snack, enjoy nature and all but after seeing the bear I was like okay time to head back. Still can’t believe I saw a bear on this hike!! Best hike ever!!

While on a backcountry canoeing trip in Ontario’s Quetico Provincial Park, an Overwatch x Rescue subscriber, sent an SOS alert to our Crisis Response Center (CRC) from a @SPOT_llc device.

Our team immediately gathered critical details to coordinate a response:
📞 Spoke with emergency contacts to confirm the trip itinerary and lack of cell service
🤝 Escalated the case through the appropriate nearby local authorities
📍 Provided continuous live-tracking data to guide local Search & Rescue operations

Due to the extreme remoteness of the trip, responders deployed a float plane. Guided by coordinates relayed by our team, crews spotted the camper’s visual markers from the air and safely completed the extraction.

The backcountry does not forgive the unprepared.

Mount Washington humbled me.

Nearly 13 hours on the mountain, starting around -20°C, and a very quick lesson in how much the right equipment matters.

I brought microspikes where proper crampons would have made a huge difference, and snowshoes that weren’t built for the terrain. At one point I lost my footing on a steep section and slid until a dead tree stopped me.

Not exactly the plan.

But this is why I keep putting myself in these environments. Every mountain exposes another weakness, another skill to sharpen, another lesson to carry forward.

I adjusted, kept moving, made the summit, and came away better for it.

One of the hardest hikes I’ve done. Easily one of my favourites.
