Veeno Italian Wine Bar & Kitchen has officially opened its doors and it’s bringing a slice of Sicily to Durham Riverside 🇮🇹🍷

This is one chain I can definitely get behind, with authentic Italian food, beautiful wines straight from their own vineyard, and that proper laid-back vibe.

We started with the cured meat platter for one, mozzarella & rocket salad, and a bread board. Sharing food at its finest!

Then came the the mains
🍝 Paccheri alla Carbonara made the right way (no cream in sight, just pecorino + pancetta 👏)
🌶️ ’Nduja ravioli, the perfect hit of spice in a fresh tomato sauce (my fave)
🍰 And of course, a classic tiramisu, reviewed by Paige since I’m not a coffee girly!

We’ll 100% be back for one of their larger grazing boards and wine flights it’s the perfect people-watching spot with unreal food. @veeno_uk

Packed with 80 seasonal recipes inspired by the hedgerows, woodlands and fields around us, it’s a celebration of wild flavours, sustainability, and the simple joy of bringing nature to the table.

This isn’t just a cookbook — it’s an ongoing guide. Some of the things you preserve, you won’t be able to use until next year. You have to wait for the season, so it’s a book you’ll pick up again and again throughout the year. Cooking and preserving with the seasons mirrors what we do at the restaurant — you can only cook what’s available at that time, and that’s what makes it so special.

Whether you’re new to foraging or already love working with wild ingredients, we hope you’ll find inspiration (and maybe even something new!) within its pages. Writing this book has been such a special journey — seeing it become real is a true bucket-list moment for us.

A little sneak peak into an unforgettable night @thegrandyork celebrating 200 years of modern railways 🚂

We dined inside @legacyyork on a 10 course tasting menu created by @chefkevinbon and his team, each dish inspired by how dining and rail travel have evolved through the decades. From the scallop to the venison (still can’t stop thinking of these two dishes 😍) and that playful wheel inspired dessert, it truly was an amazing dining experience.

Women In The Food Industry Event is happening on Tuesday 24th June 10.30am-1.30pm This is their second event, and having been at the first I can highly recommend. @thegrandyork @cookeryschoolgrand

This time I will be hosting a tasting table with our delicious charcuterie, come along and try a sample.

Aimed at all women involved in the food industry in whatever area that might be, from producers, influencers, marketing, photography, graphic designers, printers, restaurants, hotels, chefs, journalists, and many more! If you work in the industry this will be a great networking event, informative speakers and a delicious lunch.

I have a few people that are super honest and my biggest critic. Keep me pushing on.

This is our new dish on.

Parisienne Bouillabaisse - Safron - Parsley - Sourdough

Not going to lie Yohan is one of the main people telling me if I haven’t created or hit the mark on a dish. Sometimes it’s just brutal honesty, sometimes it’s through a bit of banter. For this specific dish it’s been a few years of back and forth.

I say I’m doing a bouillabaisse he tells me I haven’t and it’s not a true bouillabaisse.

Then, On Saturday I messaged Yohan “I’m doing a Parisienne Bouillabaisse”

Let’s just say he said he was not happy. But finally I pulled out the chefs bible and won the war on bouillabaisse.

“Don’t ever say that to another French person” 🤣🤣
