Strength in Every Setback. 💙

Last week, the Fast Fwd NYC Summit brought that theme to life in the most powerful way — through every voice in the room.

@jonnyhuntington , the first disabled stroke survivor to ski solo and unsupported to the south pole, opened our hearts with words on resilience that hit different when they come from someone who’s truly lived it. 🎿

And the rest of the day matched that energy:

🎙️ A panel got real about the return-to-work journey
🧠 We explored how pain is experienced after injury — and what that means for our recovery
🤝 Plus get-to-know-you moments that turned a room full of people into a community

From exoskeleton to walking free 🧠💜

In 2017 I suffered a hemorrhagic stroke that left me completely paralyzed on my left side. Here I am in 2017 learning to walk again in a full exoskeleton with assistance.
The second video is me in 2026.
Nine years later I don’t just walk — I run toward life with everything I have. 😊 As an author, creator, speaker, and advocate, I turned the hardest chapter of my life into a mission — building community for stroke and brain injury survivors so no one has to walk this road alone. Onward! 💪🧠

Do Not Disturb 🛌

Living independently as a Stroke Survivor means I unfortunately need to do all of my household chores on my own. 😠 I hate doing chores, but they are a necessary evil and it is worth it so that I can live independently.

Independence was always one of my top goals after the stroke and I was committed to working tirelessly until me and my family both felt confident enough that I would be able to get by without assistance. But tasks like making the bed and specifically changing the bedsheets is challenging as a Stroke Survivor. Not impossible, but it definitely takes a little longer than it did before. But that’s OK, I just know that I need to budget in extra time to allow for this. The way I see it, it is worth it so that I can maintain my independence and these are just necessary evils. Onward! 💪
