POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

We are honored to be carrying Chris’s vision with this show. He began writing under the name Spirisow in 2021 and was moving forward with performing it live. His Spirisow music reflects him so beautifully and the show will be filled with live elements performed by collaborators/friends.

With the help of Corinne Leidhecker, Laura Epling, Bobby Chase, Maggie Chafee, Cassidy Gephart, Chris Lippincott, Hollie Hammel, Juan Solorzano, David Williford, Stephen Proctor, Kevin Gift, Daniel Sauls

Cabin weekend to welcome the next season.
School starts tomorrow.
Found a Rothko on the trail.

“Come to the woods, for here is rest. There is no repose like that of the green deep woods. Here grow the wallflower and the violet.” -John Muir

The Wish to be Generous
by Wendell Berry

All that I serve will die, all my delights,
the flesh kindled from my flesh, garden and field,
the silent lilies standing in the woods,
the woods, the hill, the whole earth, all
will burn in man’s evil, or dwindle
in its own age. Let the world bring on me
the sleep of darkness without stars, so I may know
my little light taken from me into the seed
of the beginning and the end, so I may bow
to mystery, and take my stand on the earth
like a tree in a field, passing without haste
or regret toward what will be, my life
a patient willing descent into the grass.

Rivendell isn't just a location in Middle-earth. It's a way of being.

Hospitality. Creativity. Peace. A place where the weary find rest and the curious find wisdom. This conversation went somewhere I didn't expect. What would it look like to actually build that kind of environment around you? Not a fantasy. A daily practice.

The people who lead well, create well, and live well tend to have one thing in common: they're intentional about the atmosphere they create. For others and for themselves.

What kind of space are you building around your life?

(Strobe light warning)

We can’t believe it’s already been a year since this happened. One year since a team of phenomenal creatives gathered to make and experience something really new.

No one from the team had ever done something quite like this., but they all accepted to journey together.

With direction by @tonyyazbeckofficial and immersive projections by @sproctor, artist @andrewjnemr performed a *12-hour overnight solo improvised tap dance*

The immersive event was captured by @katebosan and @cave_mfg and @peripheral_vision_pdx with production design by @robharari and production management by @rasheedatv.

@littlefurydesign @emune @davidchangstudio provided visual direction and elements, while @gagehuntcreative contributed to the digital design of the project.

Dark Night remains a unique expression of art, made to facilitate a space of encounter, reflection, and honoring of the choice to endure.

That’s something we still feel is needed today.

Watch the live stream recording on our YouTube channel.

Download a guided reflection on our website.

My spring traveling seson is a wrap! And, as it comes to a close, my heart is full. From weekends on the road to sweet moments gathered with friends old and new, I’m so grateful for every conversation, every prayer, and every place God allowed us to go together. Summer is finally here, which means a slower pace and maybe I’ll even unpack my suitcase for a few days. I’m going to soak it all in as we look ahead to what is shaping up to be a very exciting fall! Stay tuned because maybe I’m coming to see you!

Still reflecting on my time last week at the Understory Festival at the National Cathedral. Grateful for the space created; the brilliant gathering ability of @annesnyder10 and @commentmagazine; the moving artistry of @jonguerra, @sproctor, @audreyassad, and many others.

In 1 Kings 18, the prophet Elijah is discouraged and despondent, thinking he stands alone against a ruthless, despotic rulers who are leading God’s people astray. And still he acts in faith. It’s not until a whole chapter later that God tells him there are 7,000 more who are dedicated to worshiping the one true God.

At a time when the weight of everything can wear us down and isolate us, my spirit was so encouraged to be in the company of the many people I got to meet, talk with, and learn from (most of whom I didn’t get pics with): new friends as well as old—from seminary to shared ministry over the last 20 years. All of them people already about the work of building a better future—through protesting, advocating, writing, creating, living a better way.

Grateful for the honor to participate as one of the artists for @commentmagazine ’s “The Understory Festival” last week at The Washington National Cathedral. This site-specifc scroll was a reflection of all the incredible speakers, musicians and people.
