Last summer, R(a/u)pture presented its third edition in Genk. Over the span of two days, the collective presented an outdoor film programme, museum visits, lectures, and a silent film screening. A big thank you to everyone involved! It was a pleasure to watch films in the rain with you.

Curious about what’s next? Subscribe to R(a/u)pture’s newsletter via the Linktree in the bio to stay updated.

R(a/u)pture 3 took place on 29 and 30 August 2025 at the grass field near Jester, Cinema Victoria, and the Emile Van Doren Museum. The edition featured films by Wout Biesmans, Peter Hutton, Mani Kaul, Ute Aurand, Sharon Lockhart, and Family Cape, alongside live music by Niels Geybels (Sequences) and presentations by Christophe Van Eecke and Karolien Chromiak.

A.V.A. presents:
A new release by Efemerides: ‘Looming Over Oblique Lines’. A visit materialises, drifting fields of colour. A collection of reveries, one view through the window.

You went looking for the place that delivers a sensorium of moving neon hues against a setting sun. To end things is to start anew.

Cassette/digital available on bandcamp.

Coming up this month:

4bidden Sounds 4bidden Spaces
4S4S on January 29th, 19:00-21:00h!

About the artists:
Sequences is “in-the-game” since 2009 and still as active as ever. In 2025 he has released an album about his travels in Mexico and one about his interest in psychogeography.

His music blends tape hiss, field recordings and drone orchestration within modular synthesis.

Despite drawing from a wide range of influences; literature, urban exploration, film & photography his sound is deeply rooted in personal experience and weaves all of this together in a coherent tapestry.

🪽2025🪽was without a doubt the most challenging year of my life so far.
It was a year of completely losing myself, taking responsibility, learning to communicate, and saying goodbye. A year of realizing that all truths are only half-truths and that coincidences are perhaps just a piece of a whole we don’t yet know. A year of falling in love, losing, and finding. A year of coming home to so many different places. A year of finding renewed energy and motivation to keep on creating.
A year of immense gratitude for all the people around me who give me the space to make mistakes, learn, and grow. I couldn’t have done it without you.
On to the next one, a year of falling flat on our faces and getting back up again. And again.
LOVE
Lenah

I barely paid attention to new releases in the second half of the year, but I’ve been going through some lists and found some pretty cool stuff. Most of these are friends’ lists, since most webzines seem to have jumped on the trend bus along with all the hype and performative listeners. Anyway, I decided to stick to my initial Top 3 to make things easier. Here’s #2.

On Sequences' 'Aluxes'

Personal journeys — from the ruminations of an urban hermit to the gold-seeking Alaskan expeditions depicted by Jack London — have long been documented through words and images. Sound alone, whether recorded or synthesized, has been used far less often as a journaling medium, usually by a small, unconventional sect of misfits — their interests often scientific, sometimes ethnographic, occasionally poetic.

This scarcity may have historically been dictated by technological limitations, which today are nearly nonexistent. If anything, modern tools — affordable and portable — call for a realignment of the act of journaling, documenting, and remembering, for the identity of a time, a place, and, dare I say, an individual, is also its sounds.

It’s important to note that the act of documenting a trip need not be purely objective or rational, for the inner journey rarely unfolds with such precision. A confluence of gathered and synthesized sounds, respectfully manipulated, detuned, and mangled to taste, may offer a closer representation of what the mind actually recollects.

Sad to see this project ending, but really happy with this last line up, we're going out with a bang! 💥 Small change of plans: this event will take place at the OVERLAST residency space at Stuivenberg. Same gate as Bar Ziek, we will make sure to put some signs up so you will find it. Can't wait to welcome @sqncs @crat_j and @mina_kiedy_smut in this space that is our new home and will probably be the home to some very cool stuff in the future 👀 Join us and let's end another OVERLAST year in style ⭐Picture @streepelsteeltje
