Ashley, junior Fashion Merchandising student, had the opportunity to study abroad in Florence, Italy at Santa Reparata International School of Art (SRISA) over the summer. “During my time there, I took two courses: History of Italian Fashion and Fashion Trend Forecasting! My time at SRISA was extremely valuable. Through my classes, I was able to visit the Gucci and Ferragamo Museums, discover the many beautiful parts of Italy, and overall learn about the fashion industry from a global perspective.”

È possibile partecipare all’intera giornata o a una singola sessione.

Years of selfies… and honestly, I had no idea which ones to choose. So here’s a little random journey through my years at SRISA: from when I first joined as a collaborator and professor, to where I am today, proudly representing this school as Dean of Students and Head of Liberal Arts. It has been a long, sometimes winding, but incredibly rewarding journey of constant growth, surrounded by people who have made SRISA feel much more than just a workplace. It really is a big family. Choosing which students to include was basically impossible, there have been so many over the years, and every single one has left something special behind. So I simply picked a few photos here and there, from different years, different classes, different moments. To my colleagues, and especially to all the students who have crossed my path along the way: you are what makes this place so special. ❤️ A few selfies, a lot of memories, and many more still to come. #SRISA #StudyAbroadFlorence #TeachingAbroad #StudentLife #FlorenceItaly

Scripta. L’arte a parole.

In Spring 2026, I had the opportunity to study abroad in Florence, Italy, at the Santa Reparata International School of Art. The experience allowed me to take courses unique to the school, immerse myself in the culture of Florence, and expand my view not only of art, but of the world. Courses I took at SRISA included Renaissance Drawing & Painting Techniques, The Florentine Sketchbook: Exploring Florence Through Art, Discovering Florence Through Photography, Creative Jewelry: Wearable Art, and Neuroaesthetics: Creativity & the Brain. Syllabi often included trips to places such as the Ufizzi Gallery, the Lorenzo Villoresi Perfumery Museum, or Florence’s Museum of Natural History which enhanced the learning experience by connecting class content to the city around me. The school schedule also allowed me time to explore other parts of Italy and enjoy the wonderful authentic Italian gelato, pasta, and the best citrus fruits I’ve ever had! Of course the professors, classmates, and newfound friends made the experience ten times more precious. To anyone considering studying abroad, particularly at SRISA, I highly recommend it. ~ Elise Espinosa 2026 Seward Johnson Artist Development Travel Scholarship Recipient Follow @elises.easel to see more of Elise’s work and keep up with her artistic exploration!✨
