One of those full-circle moments that makes me so grateful to be an illustrator. 🥹❤️ I finally got to meet the wonderful @srividhyavenkat , author of Priya’s Not So Perfect Brand New Outfit — a book I had the absolute joy of illustrating! Plus this was the first timeI saw the book! 🥹📚✨ Priya is determined to look perfect in her brand-new outfit for a very special occasion, but things don’t quite go according to plan! Through all the little mishaps and chaos, she discovers that maybe having a new outfit isn’t nearly as important.❤️ I loved bringing Priya’s personality, expressions and colourful world to life, and seeing the book as a finished physical copy was such a special feeling. And meeting Srividhya made it even better! What started as a conversation about the book turned into hours of talking about children’s publishing, illustration, industry trends, future projects and everything we love about this world. 🥹 Loved every minute of it, Srividhya! Here’s to more books, more stories and hopefully more collaborations together. ❤️📚✨

Making friends is a journey — and for little ones, it can come with a whole lot of figuring things out. 💛 Books give children a gentle, safe space to explore these questions. Through stories, they get to see different kinds of friendships, understand different perspectives, recognise their own feelings, and discover what it means to be a good friend — to others and to themselves. Because sometimes, the best way to learn about friendship is to first find it in a story. 📚✨ Read these books no on www.getlitt.co #booksforkids #onlinebooks #GetLittNow #GetLittRecommends #kidsbooks

Comment LINK and I’ll send you the links to all 5 books. 📚🤎 Today is Grandparents Day, so this one is for the Nani, Dadi, Thatha, Ajji and grandparents who make sure our little ones always know where they come from. Especially the grandparents who live across the ocean. Because culture gets passed down in so many little ways: stories, recipes, languages, traditions, family rituals and the memories we make together. These 5 picture books celebrate that beautiful connection between South Asian grandparents and their grandchildren. 🤎 Save this for your next grandparent + little one book date 📚 Which one reminds you of your grandparent? #GrandparentsDay #SouthAsianBooks #DesiKids #IndianParents #KidsBooks [grandparents, South Asian children’s books, Indian kids books, Nani books, Dadi books, Thatha books, multicultural children’s books]

I have such a soft spot for books about the stories ordinary things carry. In “Priya’s Not-So-Perfect Brand-New Outfit” written by Srividhya Venkat and illustrated by Vaishnavi Dukhande, Priya is tired of hand-me-downs. The faded clothes. The frays, stains, rips and patches. She saves enough to buy something she really wants: a beautiful, brand-new pavadai, then life happens-A slip. A splat. A rip. Priya is devastated. Her perfect new outfit isn’t perfect anymore. But this is where the story got me. Those stains and rips begin to hold something else: memories. Maybe the clothes passed down to us aren’t simply old clothes either. They carry evidence of lives already lived in them. I also loved the author’s use of Tamil words like akka, anna, aiyyo, paati and pavadai. They aren’t treated as interruptions to the story. They belong there, because they belong in Priya’s world. The author’s note at the end makes this even more meaningful, inviting readers to go back and notice how these words are also tucked into the illustrations. I can already imagine the conversation after reading this aloud: “What is something old that you keep because of the memory attached to it?” Because maybe a stain isn’t always something that ruined a thing. Sometimes, it tells you where that thing has been.
