Tula grabbed her first Grand pass yesterday at the fall HRC International Grand Hunting Retriever Test in St. Charles, MO. When Zeus went down this fall to injury I thought I lost my chance to finally get through the Grand but I’m so thankful God had different plans. In the last two weeks this girl stepped up her game in every way imaginable and Tula proved to me she was ready to go chase the Grand on her own. She is one of the finest animals I’ve ever worked with. Her owners are excellent friends and the most supportive team always there to encourage and cheer us on. I have been blessed beyond anything I deserve to be able to train and campaign Tula along with so many other animals that have been in and/or currently in my kennel but it’s tough when you realize you love someone else’s dog as much as you would if they were yours and that one day they will go home and not come back. Until that day comes with Tula the grumpy bear…. I hope we get many more chances to play this game and chase ribbons or titles together but no matter what I will never forget this run she gave me and the experience we just had and how much we have learned together. #thehrcgrand #huntingretrieverclub #fieldgolden #dogsthatdomore #mansbestfriend

Zeus and Tula both picked up another master pass towards qualifying for the 27’ Master National this weekend and are sitting on 4 of the 6 they need. Proud doesn’t describe how I feel about these two Golden Retrievers.

I am very proud to introduce a new Master Hunter! Ponderosa Ranch Tallulah earned her MH title over the weekend at the Red Hills Retriever Club Double Master Hunt Test going 2 for 2. This girl has been with me for a little over 2 years total. I cannot express how much this accomplishment means to me with her along with the friendship I’ve developed with her owners, Noah and Emma Cartwright. Tula is such a great dog and has been through so much to get to this point. Tula is now in select Golden Retriever company as HRCH Ponderosa Ranch Tallulah MH WCX. She is running the HRC international grand this fall and has aspirations for the 2027 master national. #akcgoldenretriever #fieldgoldenretrieversofinstagram #fielddoglife #poweredbyinukshuk #hunttest

Hunt Tests are a lot of work for trainers and we are always exhausted after a long day or weekend of running dogs but when the owners are excited about their dogs and are positive about coming to watch it always gets me excited and revives my love for this process. Timber is one of the Zeus & Tula pups from the breeding last summer. He is owned by Joseph Dillard. I had a blast talking with him and his girlfriend Olivia all weekend. Timber is gonna be one heck of a big dog and already thinks he’s something special. He’s not void of confidence at all!!!! 🙂#hrcdogs #dogsthatdomore #ukcdog #huntingretrieverclub #fieldbredgolden

Our first HRC hunt test of the year was a very wild and fun weekend. Thank you to everyone who lets me train your pups. The 2026 Spring Old Hatchie HRC hunt test was another great one with some excellent memories.
