LIVE MUSIC! We have two more amazing shows coming to York this autumn 🍂 13 October: Elsa Hewitt + Kirk Barley - Double Headline Show Two of the UK’s most inventive electronic artists are heading to the Angel this October!  Elsa Hewitt is a producer and songwriter whose intuitive, offbeat approach blends dream-pop, ambient and electronica into hypnotic, self-sampled soundscapes... glistening, elusive, and built from her own recorded world. www.elsahewitt.com   Kirk Barley (aka Church Andrews) is a Yorkshire-born composer and sound artist.

As Barley, he creates organic works from field recordings, instrumental fragments, and found sounds. His compositions often resemble sonic dioramas, with layered textures that unfold and invite exploration.

As Church Andrews, he explores rhythm-focused music, using digital synthesis and algorithmic techniques.

Across both projects, his work channels Jazz, Minimalism, Post Rock, and Hip-Hop, folding irregular rhythms, evolving temporalities, and alternate tunings into dynamic sonic landscapes.

Kirk has performed across the UK, Europe, and Canada, And his music has been released on labels such as Accidental, Odda, 33-33, and his own Health imprint. Expect an evening of immersive, boundary-pushing sound from two artists at the top of their craft. 10 November: Sam Moss + Sofa Sofa Details on next slide! 🎟️ Tickets in bio! 🖼️ by @dogeatcog & Robyn (aged 15) #yorkevents #yorkgigs #gigsgigsgigs #elsahewitt #livemusicyork 10 November: Sam Moss + Sofa Sofa Live at Angel on the Green, York Angel on the Green welcomes Sam Moss to York as part of his UK tour - a Virginia-based songwriter and fingerstyle guitar player whose latest album Swimming has been acclaimed by publications like Uncut, No Depression, and Aquarium Drunkard. We are absolutely thrilled to announce another international tour coming through Trowbridge. @sssammmosss is a musician based in Staunton, Virginia. His newest album, Swimming (2025) has been acclaimed by publications such as Spin, Uncut, Bandcamp and Aquarium Drunkard. He has played hundreds of shows around the country, supporting artists like Watchhouse, Jake Xerxes Fussell, and Joan Shelley. He is also a woodworker. “Swimming foregrounds his graceful guitar playing, his quietly intense vocals, and most of all his observant songwriting, all of which reveal new wisdom with each spin.” - SPIN "Sublime... the results are so intimate and tactile that you might just feel them slip through your fingers." - Bandcamp @tractorwatson is the banjo frailing, guitar pickin', folk singer, boat dwelling canal yokel hero of The Swamp Stomp String Band! Bringing us a set of his beautifully crafted original songs. Grab you tickets at www.thepumptrowbridge.co.uk

SAM MOSS live at The Angel on the Green, York Support from Sofa Sofa We’re beyond excited to welcome Staunton, Virginia’s own Sam Moss to York — a masterful fingerstyle guitarist and songwriter whose latest record Swimming has been turning heads across the folk/Americana world (props from Uncut, No Depression, Aquarium Drunkard and more). Expect intricate picking, warm songcraft, and a genuinely special night of music. “To listen to Swimming, the new album by Sam Moss, is to be confronted by beautiful contradictions. Moss and his ensemble spin a gossamer web of instrumentation around Moss’ earthy voice, at once hopeful and a deliverer of weary wisdom.” - Rachel Cholst, No Depression Opening the night, Sofa Sofa bring flowing melodies and beautiful strings inspired by the natural world. 📍 The Angel on the Green, York 🗓️ 10 November 2026 🎟️ link in bio 🖼️ by Max burgess and @dogeatcog Don’t miss this one — grab your tickets now! 🎶

Our 20th anniversary walk through NMF history continues with 2023. The 17th annual Nelsonville Music Festival took place July 21–23, marking our second year at Snow Fork Event Center. After learning a lot from our first year in our new home, NMF returned with a weekend full of discovery, community, and unforgettable sets. Headliners included Big Thief, Alex G, and Kurt Vile & The Violators. The lineup also featured Alvvays, Lucinda Williams, Margo Price, Sierra Ferrell, Shannon & The Clams, Altın Gün, Wednesday, Courtney Marie Andrews, Michael Hurley, Lido Pimienta, MJ Lenderman, Geese, Nick Shoulders, and many more. 2023 is a great example of how NMF has always been a place to discover artists before the rest of the world catches on. Geese and Wednesday were just getting their start then, and we can’t wait to welcome them back this June to see them on the main stage. Who was your favorite on the 2023 lineup? Share your memories in the comments! 📷: @stealyoursoulphotography, @thehotmic.co, & @categroubert
