(Trick or) treated my mum friends to a little Halloween joy! 🦇🩷

After a very rubbish couple of days, some crafting, delicious food and a few hours putting the world to rights were just what my brain needed.

I started with these sweet hand drawn bats, turning them into handmade place settings for our afternoon tea. A perfect Making Joy activity! (If you missed my reels, this is my little quest to embrace creativity just for the joy of it.)

Then I thought I’d whizz up a little spooky-cute Halloween banner using my @cricut_uk , because WHY NOT?!

The loveliness didn’t stop at the decorations. It was SUCH a pleasure to enjoy a @pigletspantry delivery.

We loved the biscuits, and I can confirm the sausage rolls are 10/10! (Of course, I shared with the kids when they got home from school. There was no way they’d forgive me for keeping these Halloween cupcakes all to myself!)

As mums, we get so busy making the magic for everyone else that it’s easy to forget we deserve a little magic and whimsy ourselves.

This was a lovely reminder that joy just for joy’s sake is always a good idea.

What’s one little treat you could give yourself this week, just because? 🩷✨

How good are you at saying yes to the fun stuff?
I have a sneaky feeling a few of us might find this tricky!

The lovely invitations, little adventures, things you fancy doing just because YOU think they sound fun... I consider myself a constant work in progress on this front!

Do you find it easy to make room for those things, or do they tend to get pushed to the bottom of the list?

Any words of wisdom from the yes people?

Last night was fun!

I got to hang out in Cambridge with my lovely @gingerthreadgirl at the very exciting opening of the new Uniqlo in the Grand Arcade, had a very serious internal debate about whether I need this cosy fleece (I mean… do I? What do you think? 👀) and then rounded off the evening with pizza, Diet Coke and a very good catch-up with Jen at @everymancinema

Such a lovely evening… and possibly the beginning of a new fleece obsession…😆

I saw some little handmade DIY @sylvanianfamilies_uk charms on @pinterestuk and thought… ‘that feels like a perfect place to start with some everyday creative joy’ 😄

So I rescued this little outfit-less mole from the kids’ toys and gave him a fancy new life with some felt, sequins and a bit of wobbly sewing.

Last week I talked about making more room for creative joy, so this is me following my own advice and doing a quick creative project every day this week to fill my cup. ✨

I’ll be sharing more over on Stories as I go, then doing a little round-up at the end of the week 🩷

What are you making time for this week?
Share your creative projects and your joy with me!

📚 Swipe to the end to see where we started.

The design for this library began back in October, with hazeldeneschool wanting to create something more than just a room for books. During half term, with many hands behind the scenes, the vision came to life.

The space was designed with different zones for how children naturally use a library, areas for whole classes to gather, alongside cosy corners where children can step away, recharge, and get lost in a story.

Cosy benches, cubby houses, calming colours, and a beautiful wall mural by @stacieswift bring warmth and imagination into the space.

The opening was made even more special by children’s author and illustrator @david_c_litchfield, along with a wonderful message for the school from Alex Latimer

Spaces like this matter. When schools design environments with care, they support calm, creativity, confidence and connection.

A real privilege to be part of this project and to work with a school that invests so deeply in the wellbeing of its children. ✨

So thrilled to see the beautiful positivity mural come to life. 🌈

We commissioned the incredibly talented Stacie Swift to design this uplifting artwork, which we then produced as large-scale printed wallpaper for this inspiring school library space.

Designed to surround children with messages of confidence, kindness and self-belief, and with the creative interior vision of @kinderoo_interiors, the space has been transformed into a place where imagination and wellbeing can grow side by side.

Seeing our wallpaper used to create spaces like this is exactly why we do what we love to do.
