Moments since the autumnal equinox. Baja California to the Pacific Northwest, coastal to inland desert.

"An nhiên" in Vietnamese refers to the idea of experiencing the present moment as it comes, a harmony with nature, and cultivating calm in a chaotic environment.

Just like everyone, I find this easier said than done.

Life is life-ing beyond the social media veil. That means there are things to celebrate, things to sit with, and things still unfolding. Each day is its own class in holding gratitude and uncertainty together, and learning that both have a place.

My gratitude list: birthday celebrations, redwoods, tropical storms, running into middle school friends at conferences, desert waves, fresh flowers, surfing before the sun comes up and until it goes down, being silly with friends, agility training for Aloha, the family group chat (and the side chats to the group chat), spending time with friends, snail mail, never caring how long it takes to text/call back, watching-my-husband-watch-football season, painting landscapes, trying new lip liner because why not, and generally witnessing communities and people show up for each other.

Big to small, I'm counting my blessings and feeling very grateful. Wishing you all a dose of an nhiên or at least ample opportunity to practice it.

🤍,
Lily

A little life update…

It is good 😎

The last 6ish months or so summed up into a few pictures. Thailand Retreat, Disney Cruise with my niece & nephew, a few weeks of healing in beautiful Bali with a yoga retreat with Tim and learning from James Nestor, and spending time in my new home in Bend with some of my favorite visitors along the way.

Feeling so grateful for all of you who have been with me on this journey ❤️

If I ever need a reminder of what kindness, connection, and pure energy feel like, I’ll think back to this moment and this incredible collective. 🌊✨ Grateful for the people, the presence, and the magic we created together in Bali.

The word for "waves" in Vietnamese (sóng) sounds a lot like the word for "to live" (sống). The Vietnamese word for "coast" (biển) reminds me of the Spanish word for "well" or "good" (bien).

Waves. Life. Coast. Well-being.

Without a doubt, the ocean is a life source in both the physical and spiritual sense - connecting all things, places, and people. She breathes clouds into rain. Rain nourishes soil and seed. The harvest strengthens our bodies and brings people together. Like many others, and especially as a surfer, I turn to the ocean to heal.

This month has been a mindset reset. Instead of waiting to *have* time, I'm intentionally *making* time for myself. And if time is something we can spend, then it's also something we can invest in things that we wish to grow: friendship, connection, awareness, dreams. I'm now writing this during a moment of clarity, where I finally have spaciousness to catch my breath, enough levity to laugh and be silly, inspiration and energy for new projects, and the ability to fill my own cup.

The tide may change again at some point, but for now, I'm grateful for this newfound buoyancy.

Waves. Life. Coast. Well-being.
