The grace and mercy of Jesus Christ is there for all who want to take it! His grace is sufficient to right every wrong, to heal every heart, to enable every weak thing… as long as we lean on Him! He is tough! He can carry anything you throw His way. You don’t have to be perfect to come to Him and ask for His help, just do it!

Let's get past the question of whether Latter-day Saints believe in the Bible or not. We do, and there's no sober, well-considered argument to the contrary. The real question is, do we Latter-day Saints take the Bible on its own terms or not?

If we want to be able to answer that question affirmatively, then we need to leave behind the false traditions found among many conventional religious ideologies in our cultural environment.

I'd like to hear your thoughts on whether you recognize growing up with any of the false assumptions about the Bible listed here (inerrancy, infallibility, univocality, etc.)?

When and how did your knowledge of the Bible begin to expand?

This morning as I was working through my Addiction Recovery Program manual "Healing through the Savior," the Church's 12 Step Program, I had a doctrinal epiphany.

According to the new ARP manual, the 12 steps (green 🟢 in the artwork) fit into the framework of the five principles of the doctrine of Christ (red 🔴).

According to Elder Rodney Ames of the Seventy (who visited us at a stake conference a couple of years ago), the five of the doctrine of Christ correspond to the five covenants we make when we receive the temple endowment (blue 🔵).

I started piecing all of this together and realized that it all falls under the umbrella of the two great commandments the Savior's "new" commandment to His disciples (black ⚫).

I'm sure part of this is my brain naturally finding patterns. I believe it's also due to God's design. Regardless, it is becoming abundantly useful for me to mentally organize a cosmic Plan of Salvation and an eternal Gospel into a summarized framework that I can reference at a glance. My mind works in such a way that I can monitor myself and practice mindfulness better throughout the day when I can visualize reference points.

We too often treat the words of the prophets as a Rorschach test. Our views of them tend to project only what we already understand, think, and agree with. A better way to read prophetic statements is to assume that their viewpoint is not our own and listen deeply to understand their message on its own terms.

It often takes time for this to happen.

Many assumed that the truths taught in the Family Proclamation were "obvious" when it was published in 1995.

Many have commented that, as culture, practices, and policies related to family and gender have changed in the last 30 years, what once seemed obvious now seems radical.

I would add that perhaps some of us thought that the Family Proclamation's statements were obvious because we read it superficially or lacked the frame of reference to compare it with the full spectrum of ideologies about the family that have existed.

The Family Proclamation doesn't just respond to one ideological extreme.

It also, for example, responds to and rejects several of the most popular and most damaging social narratives among Christian nationalists that view women as inferior to men and children as needing "the fear of God" scolded or beaten into them.

May we pray for eyes to see -- for help to take our cultural blinders off -- and to perceive, receive, and share the marvelous love and joy which our Heavenly Parents are communicating through this inspired statement of truth.

Sometimes I wish I could live in the temple. The peace and power and everything about the house of the Lord feels like HOME.

But God knows that we can’t just set up camp inside the temple. Which is why we’ve been told to go to the temple to make covenants, but to come home to live them.

What if we reframed our thinking?

What if our thoughts went to the temple and the promises we’ve made more often—even in the mundane, normal, ins and outs of every day?

Think about it.

All the sacrifices you make as a mom for your children and spouse.

All the moments you obey, even when the desire is lacking.

All the instances you share your talents or time with others.

These are all small and simple ways you’re living your temple covenants.

You’re doing better than you think you are 🫶

President Nelson has urged us to prepare for “the great and dreadful day.” And he’s also counseled that “the safest place to be spiritually is living inside your temple covenants.”

Join me in refocusing our thoughts and seeing the power that comes from living inside our covenants.

The more we look for our temple covenants at home, the more we’ll find them 🙌🏻

I’m Jenny, @stalwartdisciple. I’m a mother of 3 incredible daughters, a wife, 3rd grade teacher, and disciple of Christ. I love reading, teaching, traveling (photo is me at the Cliffs of Moher a couple of weeks ago), and the gospel of Jesus Christ. I started my page because I felt prompted to share my faith and testimony online more consistently. I wanted to be part of the flood of goodness, light and truth that Elder Bednar asked us to participate in on social media. I share primarily about discipleship and keeping our covenants. I love serving in the church, speaking in sacrament meeting, studying the scriptures, and worshipping in the temple.

I have a testimony of Jesus Christ and His gospel. I love Him, and I know He lives and loves me. He helps me in small and big ways...and is my best and truest friend. In both my most joyous days and my darkest nights, and every moment in between, He is by my side, guiding me, strengthening me, and helping me. At one point, due to a variety of circumstances, I considered taking a break from the church. I still believed it was true, but it was challenging to go and I was exhausted and discouraged. Through a series of small miracles, I learned for myself that the Lord was aware of me and that wasn’t the answer.

Hymn # 1032 has a message for all disciples, especially those on social media:

"When worldly voices mock and scorn,
Heed not.
Through tribulation, strength is born.
Heed not.
Our Father’s love — the sweetest prize —
Exceeds the wisdom of the wise.
Look unto Christ, though foes despise.
Heed not."

Sharing the Gospel and inviting all to receive it IS the best way of defending it.

This is not to invalidate the work you've already done or that you may yet feel led to do in clarifying misconceptions or responding to criticisms.

This is a reminder that the WAY we do these things matters more than WHAT we do.

I offer you two simple questions to reflect on:

1. "Are my online interactions with those not of my faith making it easier for them to meet with the missionaries?

2. "Are my online interactions with Church members making it easier for them to succeed as member-missionaries?"

Regardless of what we do or specialize in, I pray that our focus will ALWAYS be on modeling Christ-like behavior through our way-of-being and inviting all to receive His Gospel.

The Lord is hastening His work of the Gathering of Israel, fulfilling prophecy in the process (3 Nephi 5:23-26).

Are we with Him?

You guys I can’t believe I LOST the first live we did!! So grateful Jenny was able to hop back on and explain worth week (Daughter of God) week.

Basically it’s a week that Jenny started doing with her young women where you have an activity everyday to help the young women recognize their divine identity!!

So grateful that Jenny came on and shared her testimony of how important it is to help daughters of God recognize their worth, and how serving others can help us recognize our own divine worth.

This weeks live with Jenny @stalwartdisciple had me recognize my blessings when I make time for the Lord. He is always by our side giving us more strength and energy than we think we have when we accept to serve Him and His children.

Being intentional about our time and priorities will life is up and magnify our efforts.

Probably all of us have felt a little uncomfortable with some comments in Sunday School or fast and testimony meeting, and that's ok. We each "tick" in different ways and our diversity can bring opportunities for mutual understanding and growth. But what about when someone says something totally false or inappropriate at Church?

I hope these doctrinally-grounded suggestions help you when that happens.
