POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Let me introduce myself. I am Jenny. I’m a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am a wife. I am a mother of three daughters…and have a wonderful son-in-law. I have been teaching elementary school for 26 years. I currently teach third grade—my very favorite. I love to read and read avidly. I enjoy hiking, traveling, playing games, doing puzzles, teaching, and studying the gospel. I don’t sing or dance well and have two left feet. I currently serve in the stake RS presidency. I love the youth of the church! I am studying the names of Christ and seeking to develop His attributes. I am also studying and sharing what I am learning about the covenants we have made, beginning with the covenants made at baptism.

A few random facts about me:
If I could travel anywhere, I’d go on a safari in Africa. (Happening this summer!!)

Favorite books: I might mention different ones next week but a few include A Wrinkle in Time, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, All Thirteen, The Infinite Atonement, Forest of Vanishing Stars, and The Contrite Spirit.

My heroes include: my mom, President Nelson, Sheri Dew, the widow of Zarephath, Esther, Abinadi, King Benjamin, Abraham Lincoln. But my greatest hero/role model/friend is my Savior, Jesus Christ.

If I were to change jobs, I would love to be a seminary teacher. Or a librarian. Or maybe a tour guide.

Talents I wish I had: playing the harp, playing the piano (learning!!), dancing, speaking other languages, probably many more.

I’m glad you are here! I would love for you to introduce yourself. I just started this page in January of 2023, but it has brought me a lot of joy to share my testimony and what I am learning. by @stalwartdisciple

Stalwart (definitions from several dictionaries) loyal; reliable, marked by outstanding strength and vigor of body, mind or spirit; valiant; firm or steadfast; uncompromising
Merriam-Webster online has this interesting background: Before the 1400’s, stalworth was used. In the 1100’s, stalworth was used to describe animals or people that were strong. In addition, it was used to describe people who exhibited courage. “So, in a way, stalwart has been serviceable in keeping the spirit of stalworth alive. This character of stalwart is true to its roots. Stalworth came from the Old English word stǣlwierthe (meaning "serviceable"), which, in turn, is thought to come from terms meaning "foundation" and "worth."”

Disciple: (Strong’s Concordance) , a learner; a disciple, a follower of Christ who learns the doctrines of Scripture and the lifestyle they require; a pupil; all those who confess Jesus as the Messiah, Christians:

“We are not earning Heaven, we are learning Heaven.”
- Brad Wilcox

The grace and mercy of Jesus Christ is there for all who want to take it! His grace is sufficient to right every wrong, to heal every heart, to enable every weak thing… as long as we lean on Him! He is tough! He can carry anything you throw His way. You don’t have to be perfect to come to Him and ask for His help, just do it!

Especially if your spouse had a faith crisis or stopped participating in the church after you married, you may find that previously shared interests or activities have changed. For example, you might have attended church activities together or worshipped in the temple together and that may not be the case now. It’s important to continue to strengthen your relationship, create memories together, and participate in shared activities. Continue to go on dates. Find ways to connect and to nurture your spouse. For my husband and I, this includes going on walks together, trying new restaurants, traveling, playing games, and more. Find things that you enjoy doing together and spend time doing these activities. Prioritize your marriage. This may look different in different seasons, depending on your finances, ages of children, and so on. But make it a priority to continue to strengthen your relationship.

President Gordon B. Hinckley taught: “Is there a voice that will always give us clear directions to find our way in today’s troubled world? The answer is yes. That voice is the voice of the living prophet and apostles... When we hear the counsel of the Lord expressed through the words of the President of the Church, our response should be positive and prompt.”

In order for our response to be positive and prompt, we need to know what he said and ponder his counsel, then act on his invitations.

So what counsel did President Oaks give? He invited us to “concentrate our worship, focus our learning, and unite our testimonies on the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ and His Father’s plan”, to study and act upon the messages of conference, to testify of Christ and more.

Elder Gérald Caussé said, “Brothers and sisters, do you realize that your testimony can literally change lives—your own and the lives of others?”

“Imagine what could happen if all of us—millions of disciples of Jesus Christ—consistently shared our testimonies. Countless lives would be blessed, faith would grow, and the love of Christ would spread more abundantly throughout the world.”

I don’t know everything. But these things I KNOW are true!

* God knows and loves His children.
* All things are done in His wisdom.
*He has a plan for our lives, a plan of happiness and salvation.
*We have a living prophet on the Earth.
*Joseph Smith was a prophet of God.
*The Book of Mormon is the word of God.
*The temple is the House of the Lord.
*My life is infinitely more joyful and filled with peace as I keep my covenant and follow the Savior.
* I love Jesus with all my heart! by @stalwartdisciple

I don’t know what blessings you are waiting for or praying to receive.
Marriage.
Children.
Healing after heartbreak or betrayal.
Restored health.
Financial stability.
The return of a prodigal loved one.

I don’t know how heavy your burdens feel today.
I don’t know which hope has gone unfulfilled.
I don’t know the sorrow that weighs upon you or the questions that have yet to be answered.

But God has promised remarkable blessings. Abundant blessings.
Miraculous blessings.

Whatever you are hoping for and praying for, the day WILL come when God provides more than you expected, more than you desired, more than seemed possible. Eventually, if you keep your covenants, you will receive all that He hath. So keep trusting and keep moving forward. God keeps His promises, and your long awaited hopes will be abundantly fulfilled. by @stalwartdisciple

President Nelson counseled us to seek and expect miracles. I know that as we put our trust in the Lord and pray for His help, protection, and guidance, we will experience and witness miracles. I also know that at times, the miracles don’t come in the timing and ways that we hope. Yet if we have eyes to see, we will witness the tender mercies, goodness and love of God! Sometimes the miracles are small and simple, and other times they are magnificent. But each can testify of the love of God. He is in the details of our lives. by @stalwartdisciple

Christ was rejected by most people. He was despised enough to be spit upon, scourged, mocked and even crucified. When we experience heartbreak, rejection, mocking, betrayal, and rejection, we are in good company. The world will rarely see eye to eye with those who follow Christ. It is through turning to Christ and following Him in these difficult circumstances that we become like Him!

My parents divorced when I was a teenager, and at first I had so many questions about what that meant for me and my family. What did that mean for my family? Could we still have an eternal family? Could I still have eternal life? I studied and prayed and found comfort. Elder Bednar’s words today would have helped 14 year old Jenny so much. And even today, they felt very healing.

I have felt uplifted and inspired, healed and blessed this weekend. I have been gently chastened and can see ways that I need to improve. I also received guidance that will help me tomorrow and each future day to become a more stalwart disciple of Christ. I’m so grateful for general conference.

Did you notice that both President Eyring and Sister Chibota quoted President Kimball: ““God does notice us, and he watches over us. But it is usually through another person that he meets our needs.”

I LOVE “Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing”. I could listen to it every day.

What themes have you noticed? What messages have stood out to you?

A few that I have noticed:
*We will experience trials and difficulties, but the Savior will be with us to help us through the challenges.
*We need to minister to and love one another.
*We need to keep the commandments and keep our covenants.
*We should be peacemakers.
