Ok folks, tomorrow is the day and in celebration of EP Release Eve, I have to spotlight my captain of captains, @stephenwisemus ! It was back in 2012 @standavismusic invited me out to a gig he was doing with Stephen and @7dope. I got the nod to jump up and play guitar. It was that night Stephen and Doug offered the gig to play in the Edge band and my true schooling began. I thought I knew how to play, but the bar Stephen and Doug set elevated not only my playing but my overall purpose in making music. The last official gig we played was the first photo you see of us being silly back in Dec 2017. There have been a few gigs here and there and I know if I ever need sax on a track, Stephen will come through. He is featured on two tracks of the album - the prominent track being “Sunrise” where he lays down both beautiful harmonies and tasty lead. Truly a genius. I am blessed and grateful to spotlight him on this EP! 💙💙💙#captainmycaptain #saxplayer #bandleader #oldhead

Last night I was in the studio recording a new song for my next project which is a re-recording but it was great having @adamfaulkonpiano play keys and it was engineered by @the_sound_doctor at Morning Star Studios. Thanks to @standavismusic for hanging out with us.

***RESCHEDULED! West Philly Orchestra Show Rescheduled to 8/20***

Every show, a journey. Every night, an experience!

Tonight starts a three-night run at Black Squirrel Club. First up is the return of an incredible project from Taylor Kelly and Jonah Francese, with a genre-blurring wall of sound from the Thinkin’ Big Big Band with some very special guests. Then YahNé Ndgo debuts her new single and band, Black August, on Friday. A Black Squirrel Club favorite, the versatile and prolific saxophonist Stephen Philip Harvey returns in chordless trio form on Saturday.

And the calendar keeps moving ahead with music from around the world, including Balkan beats, klezmer, brass-band dance parties, Brazilian reggae, traditional Irish music, and the best of the Roaring ’20s jazz era — bringing together improvisers, legends, locals, and new faces into the same room.

That’s what makes this place feel alive.

Different sounds. Vibrant scenes. Diverse audiences. United by music that moves us.

Black Squirrel Club is building something special in Philadelphia. Come be part of it!

Full Calendar and Tickets through Black Squirrel Club website link in bio.
