“Pressure is a privilege” as the @dccheerleaders say!

This has been running through my mind as we sprinted toward the opening of @hauserwirth Palo Alto with a Calder x O’Keeffe show (the first ever), alongside openings for @davidsmithestate @glennligon #jackwhitten.

And now after this incredible momentum and burst of energy I sit here and still feel this:

I love people
I love ideas
I love bringing people together in the context of art
I love creativity
I love artists
I love being on a team and achieving excellence and the next new thing — whatever lies ahead!

I am so thankful to be part of this moment and continue to work to create spaces for us to come together and share our unique gifts as humans and continue into the great unknown ✨ 🪐

The Stanford Daily just won a First Amendment lawsuit against the Trump administration.

A federal judge ruled that the government deporting legal immigrants on the basis of their speech was unconstitutional.

“Freedom of speech belongs to the people. It is not the government’s to take,” the judge wrote.

1 WRZEŚNIA MA SWOJĄ MAGIĘ. Białe bluzki, kokardy, garnitury, nowe plecaki i ta niezwykła mieszanka podekscytowania, ciekawości i lekkiego niepokoju, bo przecież zaczyna się coś NOWEGO.

Przez 13 lat przeżywałam ten dzień razem z Marceliną.
Pamiętam jej pierwszy 1 września w szkole podstawowej. Pamiętam pierwszy dzień liceum. 
Kolejne rozpoczęcia roku, kolejne klasy, kolejnych nauczycieli, przyjaciół, wyzwania.
Te dni zawsze miały w sobie coś wyjątkowego. A potem nagle… skończyła się szkoła i przyszedł czas na studia.

Rok temu nasz „pierwszy dzień szkoły” świętowaliśmy już zupełnie inaczej. Nie kilka czy kilkanaście kilometrów od domu. Tym razem droga „do szkoły” miała ponad 9 400 kilometrów i prowadziła z Walendowa aż do Kalifornii. Na Stanford University.

Pamiętam ten dzień bardzo dokładnie. Uroczyste powitanie Class of ’29.
Otwarcie roku, pierwsze chwile na kampusie, powitanie w akademiku. Rodzice, którzy jeszcze przez moment próbują sobie wmówić, że przecież to tylko kolejny etap edukacji. 😉

A tak naprawdę… to był jeden z tych dni, w których przez głowę przebiega Ci całe kilkanaście lat:
wszystkie poranki, droga do szkoły, sprawdziany, egzaminy, sukcesy, rozczarowania, decyzje, marzenia i ogrom pracy, której często nikt poza dzieckiem i jego najbliższymi nie widzi.

Ten dzień był podsumowaniem wielu lat.
Ale jeszcze bardziej był POCZĄTKIEM.

Dzisiaj nasz rodzinny „1 września” trochę się przesunął. 😉
Rok akademicki zaczyna się pod koniec września, a drogę do „szkoły” trzeba pokonać samolotem.

Ale kiedy dziś jechałam do pracy i patrzyłam na małe i duże dzieci, odświętnie ubrane, idące z rodzicami na rozpoczęcie roku, miałam przed oczami wszystkie nasze poprzednie 1 września.

I jedną myśl: JAK SZYBKO TO MIJA.

Dlatego wszystkim, którzy dziś zaczynają nowy rok szkolny, a za chwilę także akademicki, życzę, żeby był to czas odkrywania własnego potencjału, odwagi do realizowania marzeń, niezwykłych przyjaźni, dobrych ludzi spotkanych po drodze i odkryć, które zmieniają sposób patrzenia na świat.

Bo nieważne, czy droga do szkoły ma 500 metrów, 15 kilometrów czy ponad 9 400.
Każdy nowy początek ma swoją magię. ❤️
