Part 5: (This one is special!) The Saint Anthony Feast in Boston’s North End. Paul of @massiminosboston invites me to his aunt’s house, which is one of the biggest stops of the Saint Anthony procession. His Aunt and Uncle lower their calendars of pinned donations from their balconies. This part of the North End really felt like being in Italy. The balcony, the narrow streets, and Italian being spoken. This was an exhilarating experience. Something the camera may not capture effectively, is the electric feeling in the air. Love, excitement, proudness, and all of the powerful emotions that embraced us. Paul’s aunt makes food for an army and after the Saint continues on in procession, her home is still opened so that the families and society members can come in at their leisure and enjoy trays of food that she has spent days prepping and hours upon hours cooking. This might very well have been the most authentic experience in all of my years documenting Italian neighborhoods/enclaves, feasts and churches in America for the last 14 years. A truly phenomenal experience and one that I will cherish forever. Thank you, Paul, for inviting me into your family’s home to share in such a sacred tradition. I am truly grateful and honored.

The annual St. Anthony's Feast is officially here! 🔴✨

You know you’ve officially donated when you get your saint card and pin. It’s a true rite of passage around here, just like going out to vote! 🎟️🙏

Mamma is sitting comfortably in the car resting up while I head out to do some quick exploring. She has a bad back so we can’t stay for too long, but we're having the best time while we're here! Hopefully, I get to see my favorite band play since she made the trip out with me. Looking forward to catching The Ambrosiani Band when they take the stage! 🎶🥁

A little history, a lot of laughs, and plenty of Italian pride at Saint Anthony’s Feast in Boston’s North End 🇮🇹🎉 My friend Sabino from the Growing Up Italian Podcast says he always feels safe when I’m around… I guess serving 27 years finally comes with a few benefits 😂💪

Next stop: the San Gennaro Feast in New York this September, where I’ll be meeting up with Sabino and the guys again! 🍝🤌🗽 Stay tuned!
