Before a shutter clicks, a drawing is started, or even a plan for what to create exists, there’s inspiration 🌿🪶

Sometimes, it begins with a moment like this. Being out on the water, listening to the birds, watching the light dance across the landscape. Just taking it all in 😌

These are the moments that spark creativity, and the places that give us something worth creating for. But natural spaces like these aren’t guaranteed to be here forever. The Land Conservancy of McHenry County works to protect and preserve the land that makes this area so special.

Join us at Art of the Land THIS weekend, Friday, October 23rd & Saturday, October 24th, from 6:30-9pm! An Art Show and Fundraiser (there will be art, art demonstrations, music, food and more) celebrating the landscapes around us while supporting TLC’s conservation work.

Because before nature becomes art, it deserves to be protected as nature 🩷

400 W Front St, Harvard, IL
*Online purchase of art is available from 7pm on October 23rd until 9pm on October 24th

Hope to see you there!

If you stumbled across these scenes on a dark, secluded October night, would you keep exploring… or turn around 👀

Nature has a way of feeling mysterious, even otherworldly. But beyond the shadows, eerie sounds, and dancing lights is something very real: a world full of wonder, life, and places worth protecting.

That’s what makes Art of the Land so special. It celebrates the natural world while supporting the Land Conservancy of McHenry County and its work to preserve the land for future generations 🩷

I’m honored to have three pieces included:
Unfolding, Haunting Silence, and The Watcher Within.

There are pieces I understand while I’m making them.

And then there are paintings that explain themselves to me later.

The Woman Waiting Within came from that strange place between who you were and whoever you’re becoming. The figure feels almost doubled, one version solid and another hovering in front of her, as if some part of herself is still catching up.

That has felt very familiar to me.

My work over the last year has quietly recorded changes I didn’t always have words for. Grief, survival, rebuilding, and eventually the realization that moving forward doesn’t mean leaving everything behind.

Sometimes rebirth is much quieter than that.

Sometimes it’s simply recognizing yourself again.

The Woman Waiting Within will be part of Starline Factory’s Emergence Series: REBIRTH this Saturday in Harvard, Illinois.

If you’re nearby, come see her in person. The surface has so much more life and texture than a screen can hold. And if you’re new here, follow along for layered oil + cold wax paintings about memory, resilience, weather, and the complicated women moving through all of it.

The internet likes large text on photos. We like large experiences in old factories. Come wander through the Starline Vintage Market, grab a beer at Stanchion Pub on the Patio, meet the artists in their studios, and make a day of it… better yet - make the weekend of it!
