✨ Always learning. Always growing. Always looking for ways to make our school the very best it can be. Today, our Principal Sophie had the opportunity to attend the Arts Business Coach meeting — a fantastic opportunity to connect with others, share ideas and continue her own learning and development. Sophie is passionate about continually learning, reflecting and bringing new ideas back to school, ensuring that we continue to provide the very best experiences, opportunities and support for our pupils, staff and wider community. It was also a wonderful opportunity to connect with so many inspiring people from across the arts and education community. Thank you for the conversations, ideas and inspiration — it was lovely to spend time learning alongside you all! 💫. @socialblendstudios @theartsbusinesscoach @hda_kent @academyartsstudios @starzacro @k8_creative_ @actone_stageandscreen #AlwaysLearning #AlwaysGrowing #SchoolLeadership #ArtsEducation #ProfessionalLearning

ROAD TO 15 | Marketing mode is ON 👀 Last night I made a decision… Mich was already booked onto marketing & ads training in London today, but as the pressure to actually FILL all these new September classes builds, I decided I needed to be there too 😂 So here I am, on the train to London less than 24 hours later! After nearly 16 years of running Starz, I’ve already admitted that I still don’t think there’s a magic formula for filling brand new classes. But I CAN keep learning, trying new things and finding out what works. Meta ads are something we haven’t really used before, so today I’m going to learn! 👀 And after asking for advice in my last Road to 15 update, I’ve had some really helpful comments and DMs from Performance Hub, who’ve been incredibly generous sharing what’s been working for them with their ads. I’m loving the support between DBOs 💕 Meanwhile, Jamie’s away and I’ve left Issy in charge of the dogs AND responsible for receiving the food delivery at 9:30am… She was still asleep when I left. 😂 Place your bets… will she wake up?! 🤣 #RoadTo15 #DanceBusinessOwner #DanceSchoolOwner #DanceSchoolMarketing #dancebusiness

Road to 15 | Monday Metrics | Week 7/13 🧡 A quieter week on the numbers this week… and actually, a little step backwards! Two classes that were previously confirmed have moved back into pipeline because the teacher we had planned for them may no longer be available. So we’ve gone from 18 confirmed classes back to 16. Not ideal 😂 but this is exactly why I wanted a pipeline of 25 to hopefully launch 15. There are so many moving parts with teachers, venues, availability and timetables, and things WILL change along the way. But… 16 confirmed still puts us ahead of our target of 15! 🙌 And now the focus is really starting to shift. We need to fill them. 😬 Our usual September marketing campaign is getting ready to kick off with posters, flyers, social media, local groups, emails, outreach to existing and previous Starz families, launch parties and our new class offers. But this year I’m also trying something new… Meta ads and funnels. 👀 I’ve got support calls booked with various experts from next week, with ads and funnels right at the top of the list. The aim is to see whether we can start filling these new classes earlier, rather than relying quite so heavily on our usual September marketing push. So the next part of this challenge is going to be a bit of an experiment! 24 pipeline classes. 16 confirmed. 8 teachers contracted. And 219 spaces still to fill. 😂 Time to find some dancers! 🧡 #RoadTo15 #DanceBusiness #DanceSchoolOwner #DanceMarketing #starzacro

What a couple of days! 🧡 The Dance Business Conference has been everything we hoped it would be. We’ve met so many amazing dance business owners, had brilliant conversations, shared ideas, and connected with teachers and school owners who are just as passionate about helping children thrive through dance. One of my favourite parts has actually been getting to know the other exhibitors too. It’s such a supportive community, and we’ve laughed a lot over the last couple of days! A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by our stand, asked questions about Starz Acro, shared your own journey, or simply came over to say hello. It genuinely means so much. I’m heading home feeling inspired, grateful, and even more excited about what’s next. 💕 #DanceBusiness #DanceTeachers #DanceSchoolOwner #StarzAcro #CommunityOverCompetition

A fantastic few days at the @dancebusinesslab Conference in Birmingham! My first time exhibiting, not only as Centre Front, but my first time exhibiting at any event. Having also designed the official conference programme, with every attendee receiving a copy, was always going to be a highlight. It was brilliant meeting and chatting with so many dance business owners who are passionate about growing their schools, as well as spending time with some of the amazing exhibitors. Shoutout to @big.image , @starzacro , @deladivadance and @thedanceschoolcompany for bringing the good vibes all weekend. It was so much fun getting to know you all. There’s something really special about bringing so many like-minded people together in one space to share ideas, support one another, and celebrate this industry we all love. I came away feeling incredibly proud of what I’ve built with Centre Front Design Co. over the last couple of years and even more excited for what’s next. 💪 For any of you who attended the conference, my DMs and emails are always open if you need any help with your visuals. Thank you to Deborah and the Dance Business Lab team for having me. Looking forward to getting started on some new projects. #centrefrontdesignco #dancebusiness #smallbusinessowner #graphicdesigner #danceconference

Week 6 and things have suddenly got very real… 🧡 This week we’ve agreed two brand new venues, with three classes planned at each from September. One is in Winchester, where Georgia, who’s been part of the Starz family for years, will be leading the classes. Mich did a brilliant job securing the venue and coordinating everything. The second is a Saturday morning venue in Southampton, which I’ve been working on over the last few weeks. I’ve now got a couple of conversations lined up with teachers to decide who’ll take which classes. What makes this even more exciting is that both venues are in areas where we already have full classes and waiting lists. We’re growing where demand already exists, giving more families the opportunity to join Starz. That takes us to 24 pipeline classes and 18 confirmed classes. We’re now just one class away from our pipeline target of 25, with 18 classes confirmed and on track for September. The venues are secured, the planning is well underway, and now the real work begins… assigning the right teachers, launching these new venues successfully and, most importantly, filling those classes with amazing dancers. One step at a time. We’ve got this. 🧡 #RoadTo15 #DanceSchoolOwner #BusinessGrowth #DanceEducation #BehindTheScenes

ROAD TO 15 | Can we crack the formula? 👀 Nearly 16 years of running Starz and I STILL don’t think I know the secret to filling brand new classes 😂 Is there even a magic formula? We’ve got new classes to fill for September, so I’ve decided this is the perfect opportunity to try some things I haven’t tried before. Meta ads are on the list 😬 I’m also thinking about creating something genuinely useful for local families and dancers. Maybe free videos to help improve things like plies, splits, handstands or cartwheels, which could introduce new families to Starz before inviting them to try a class. Basically, I’m experimenting! And I’d LOVE to hear what’s worked for you. If you run a dance school or kids’ classes, what has genuinely helped you fill brand new classes? I’m taking notes 📝😂 #RoadTo15 #DanceBusinessOwner #DanceSchoolOwner #DanceSchoolMarketing #DanceBusiness

The Road to 15 | Monday Metrics | Week 5/13 ✨ 14 out of 15 classes confirmed. 🤯 And this week definitely wasn’t a full working week! The schools have broken up, our Starz classes have finished for summer and, naturally, my team’s availability has shifted as their own children start their holidays too. I’ve also had some lovely time away from work. An impromptu afternoon and evening on the boat with girlfriends, another boat day celebrating Mum’s birthday, and I only actually worked Monday morning, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. But the Road to 15 still moved forward. I viewed a brilliant new venue that we’re planning to launch from in September, potentially giving us another 4 classes in the pipeline. One planned class dropped out after a school decided not to go ahead for now, and teacher training and onboarding continues behind the scenes. And somehow… we’re now at 14 confirmed classes out of our original target of 15. 🥹 The next couple of weeks look very different again. This week I’m delivering two training sessions for dance and musical theatre schools who want to grow through Acro, then Jamie and I have a long weekend together, so no work Friday or Monday! We also have our annual Starz Picnic in the Park this Sunday 💕 One of my favourite days of the year and a chance for our families and team to come together outside classes. Then next week I’m exhibiting Starz Acro Teacher Training at the Dance Business Conference, so preparations for that have been happening alongside everything else. Week 5 lesson? Growth doesn’t always look like working more. Sometimes the systems, team and groundwork you’ve already put in keep things moving while you go and enjoy your life. And I think that might be my favourite metric this week.💕 #roadto15 #dancebusiness #starzacro #businessgrowth #danceteacher

The Road to 15 | Episode 6 💕 The focus has changed. A few weeks ago, our priority was recruiting teachers. Today, we’ve contracted six fantastic new teachers, so for the first time in this project, recruitment isn’t our biggest challenge anymore. Now it’s time to fill the classes. Over the next few weeks I’ll be sharing the marketing strategy behind Road to 15. Our launch events. School partnerships. Social media. Referral campaigns. I’ll share what works, what doesn’t, and the lessons we learn along the way. Because growing a dance business isn’t about solving one problem. It’s about recognising what the next challenge is, adapting, and moving forward. If you’re growing your own dance school, I hope you’ll find something you can take away and use in your own business. #RoadTo15 #DanceBusiness #DanceTeacher #BusinessGrowth #StarzAcro

The Road to 15 | Monday Metrics | Week 4 I was away on holiday last week, so this progress belongs to the team. And what a week they’ve had… In just 4 weeks, we’ve already planned 19 new classes (10 confirmed and another 9 in the pipeline). 🤯 Remember, our goal isn’t 15 planned classes… it’s planning around 25 so that we successfully launch 15 in September. This week our focus shifts to marketing. We’ll be reaching out to our existing families, email list, social media community, WhatsApp contacts and local communities, as well as getting posters and leaflets into our new venues. We’ll also be making sure our new teachers stay connected, supported and confident as they prepare to launch their classes in September. Recruiting them is just the first step—helping them succeed is what really matters. I’m excited to bring our Starz families along on this journey and show them how this growth will create even more opportunities for their children. 💕 #roadto15 #dancebusinessgrowth #businessgrowth #boatlife #dancebusiness

Road to 15 | Monday Metrics | Week 3 📈 This week’s update comes to you from Greece! 🇬🇷☀️ Although I’m taking some time away, it’s been lovely to look back on the progress we’ve made over the past three weeks. ✅ 7 classes confirmed for September 📍 7 classes currently in the pipeline 🎓 6 teachers enrolled onto Starz Acro Training 🤝 5 teachers contracted Our focus now shifts to preparing for September. Behind the scenes, we’re finalising onboarding and training, planning our launch party events, arranging school PE taster sessions and getting everything ready to welcome lots of new dancers into Starz. The 0/225 spaces filled might look a little strange… but that’s exactly where we’d expect to be at this stage. Enrolments will begin once our launch events go live in September. One step at a time. The foundations are being built. 💕 #RoadTo15 #MondayMetrics #DanceBusiness #BehindTheScenes #StarzBallet
