POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

June 2024.

Just outside the picturesque little town of Bragg Creek, at the base of the Canadian Rockies surrounded by the forest, a group of us sat around a fire each night.

The invitation was to just be; a circle of women, coming together to share, to laugh, to explore, to go deeper into the human experience and to enjoy a marshmallow or two!

What has stayed with me the most since then, is how easily we can come home to ourselves through connection, conversation and the permission to just 'be'. To sit around a circle, share stories, explore concepts, sit in stillness and silence, laugh and cry is one of the most underrated blessings of what it means to be whole and present.

Next June (2027) Kristine Morris, Gabby Grekul and I are returning. And bringing 11 women with us.

Same forest, same beautiful cabins, fireplaces and fire circles, food made with love by Janice and Marcy.

Seven days.
Nothing to achieve or do.
No need to have all the answers.
Just a curiosity and willingness to explore life at a slower, more grounded pace.

We will offer you space: space to slow down, to notice, and to remember who you are underneath everything you carry.

There is a particular kind of quiet that only exists in the mountains at dusk.

No notifications. No one needing anything from you.

Just the fire, the evergreens, and a conversation that has nowhere to be.

When we asked the women from our first Canadian retreat what stayed with them, this is what they shared:

🍂The coffee that went cold because nobody wanted to stop talking.
🍂The walks through the retreat grounds in pairs, going deeper into the work through conversation.
🍂The belly-aching laughter around the camp fire.
🍂The space to simply be.

So we built the next one around exactly that.

Coming Home
A 7-day retreat in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains.
June 12-18 2027 · Folk Tree Lodge, Bragg Creek, Alberta.

Mindfulness. Daily yoga. Rituals. Sharing circles. Journaling. Long silent walks on 30 acres of evergreen. Meals that nourish more than the body.

This retreat isn't about becoming someone new.

It's about creating the space to reconnect with who you've always been.

There is no expectation to have the answers. Only an invitation to become curious.

11 women. That's all.

A little garnish, a lot of beauty 💫💐

Anyone who knows me, knows I LOVE a vibrant garnish. They truly make a meal so beautiful and they can add freshness, texture, flavour, and a little bit of personality too.

When you hire a private chef (specifically, me 👩🏻‍🍳), you can take comfort in knowing that the food will be both delicious and beautiful. From the first bite to the last little detail, we want the whole experience to feel special ✨

I had the pleasure of working as a sous chef alongside Janice for a 2 day Walmart brunch event celebrating the incredible moms in our community. It was such a beautiful weekend bringing women together to celebrate, get pampered and enjoy a delicious brunch.

A bit about the brunch buffet…

* Whipped ricotta toast bar with sourdough
* Spring vegetable frittatas
* Rosemary potatoes
* Bright citrus salad with almonds
* Greek yogurt parfaits layered with berry compote and granola

The moms were treated to massages, manicures, and a fun photo booth 📸 making the weekend feel extra special. This was so fun @stateofwhimsy + @walmartcanada , let’s do it again 💫

Anthony Bourdain had Parts Unknown. These are The Nomad Cook’s Parts Known. The chefs and collaborators who shaped the last decade.

I first met Chef Antonie Mousseau-Rivard @lemousso in 2021, at the end of the Gourmandize Tour. After 7 weeks touring across the country, our last dinners were in Montreal. We arrived a couple days early, and through a connection I was set up on a chef play date. I had no idea who I was meeting, just told to be somewhere at a time. That’s where I met one of the most memorable characters I’ve ever come across in a kitchen. Satchel across his tight shirt and big belly, socks in Crocs, cigarette hanging out of his mouth. You could not get more Québécois than Chef Antonie. That first day he took me around Montreal, to the farmers market, to restaurants, smoking a couple joints along the way. Everywhere we went, people knew who he was. His thick French accent and deep knowledge of food made him destined to be one of Montreal’s greatest. Things went so well that Chef Antonie came and helped me with my last dinner in Montreal. When you’re standing next to greatness, you just hope some of it rubs off on you.

A year later, after moving to the US, an opportunity came up in Las Vegas that felt like a perfect fit to bring Chef down for. Along with the talented musician Jodie B @jodiebmusic, the 3 of us had a couple nights in Vegas before hosting a wake and bake brunch for the cannabis models from Jardin @jardinlasvegas, then 14 chefs from the Las Vegas Strip. Organized by Dani @thegypsysorceress from @citytreesofficial, these were some very memorable dinners. Having a room full of chefs who aren’t necessarily cannabis users show up because they wanted to learn about the craft showed me what was to come here in the US.

Fast forward to 2023, when we hosted Feast Before The Frost in Edmonton at the end of summer. Chef flew in from Montreal and we hosted two outdoor dinners next to the North Saskatchewan River. It may have been one of the coolest pop-ups we ever constructed, and Chef Antonie brought a level of sophistication to an outdoor cookout I might not have been able to achieve by myself.

Merci Chef 🫡🇨🇦
