How do you increase young womenleaders? Excellent new report from @cmi_managers Great to be part of this. The report called Unblocking the Leadership Pipeline for Young Women, in partnership with others

A truly insightful evening featuring a variety of voices where we explored the barriers young women face as they enter the world of work.
Tamara Box CMgr CCMI, Pru Shelton FCMI, Mitali Gohel, Rebekah Patterson fCMgr ACMI, Katharine Sacks-Jones, Hon DUniv, Amelia Topley fCMgr, and Denise Wilson OBE.

Wonderful to meet so many new members.
We were especially honoured to have CMI’s Royal Patron, HRH The Duchess of Edinburgh GCVO, in attendance. To meet and talk The Duchess’s ongoing commitment to advancing women’s leadership is invaluable and we greatly appreciate her support. Indeed an earlier discussion with her inspired this event!

A pleasure to catch up with Ann Franke, Helene Reardon Bond and welcome James Reed CBE to his first event in his official capacity as #CMIs President!

Some of the #keyinsights and takeaways for me
In capacity as a CCMI companion, CMGR, and for @womeninthelawuk law uk were;

🐝There is no shortage of ambition in young women, but they are measurably being held back by a lack of visibility, a culture of social perfectionism and an AI Gender Gap.

🐝Structured progression programmes help, but the cliff edge after they finish can be stark. That is the moment to find a mentor, sponsor, or consider your next step, such as pursuing cmi qualification

🐝The panels advice for young women is to put yourself in the frame for progression, and just give it a go - take on stretch goals and don’t worry about failure.

🐝We need more men in the conversation! Male allies need to encourage, provide opportunities, call out bad behaviour and pull their weight outside of the workplace.

Thanks to all the brilliant young people who cen to to say hello to me .

Will Ai take my job?
How will ai shape the future of the legal sectors?
Delighted to have been invited to speak at this international conference on the subject in Vienna. Along with other #globalspeakers we looked at gains, problems and governance.
The conference was followed by an awards dinner. Where I presented an award for life time achievement to my podcast guest former law society president IstephanieboyceCBE,KC.
I am chuffed she was recognised with the International Leaders/Lifetime Award at The Women in Law Initiative JUSTITIA AWARDS 2026 in Vienna, Austria.

The award honours women who have made an outstanding impact in leadership and recognises their lifelong achievements in the legal profession.

Stephanie’s award was jointly won and shared with The Hon Justice Ayesha Malik who became the first woman ever appointed to Pakistan’s Supreme Court and the many others who, at some point in their lives, has dared to believe that they bring change.

Thank you Alix Frank-Thomasser and Franz J. Heidinger for your vision and your amazing team for a great conference To all nominees, ally’s, those who have gone before who have made the path to leadership a little straighter and wider, thank you.

And thank you to the people who opened a door for me, stood beside me, challenged me, encouraged me and, sometimes, simply believed in me when I was finding it difficult to believe in myself.

With heartfelt thanks to my sisters in law and womenin law at the conference: Sara Carnegie Dr. Aida von Schulman (MSc, LL.M, PhD) Ed Frauenheim Franziska Bampini Sandra Yamate Tamara Vitlarova L.L.M Brankica Janković Susanne Hirschberg Giulia Vidali Maida Purišević International Bar Association The Solicitors’ Charity Barbara Giovanna Bello Nadine Nembach Nida Usman Chaudhary and so many more.

As for me, I am thrilled my own work @womeninthelawuk continues to have impact. I am proud to continue to support the next generation of lawyers through my work focussing on access to profession, rentention and ofcourse progression and leadership. Doing this through education and professional training events, research & books. I continue to dare to believe with allies we can impact.

Be curious: huge thanks to Grace Rothery, Chief of Staff at ENSEK, for delivering a brilliantly inspirational and insightful talk to our Year 7 students this morning on her career pathway from school, with lots of advice on strategies for optimising opportunities and building transferable skills and resilience throughout the journey. Fantastic to see Year 7 so engaged and asking lots of questions at the end, a great experience for them as they finish their important week of end-of-year exams. Huge thanks also @statetalking for organising this invaluable opportunity for our students#year7#careers#aspire#achieve#curiosity

We’re proud to announce joining TEDxNorthernQuarter 2026 as an official event partner, @statetalking Manchester 🎤 🔴

As part of our partnership, StateTalking will be working with TEDxNorthernQuarter to supply student volunteers for this year’s event, giving young people valuable hands on experience at one of the world’s leading conference platforms and access to great and insightful TEDx talks by leading industry professionals. From behind the scenes operations to front of house support, students will gain real world insight, confidence and practical skills! 💡

StateTalking connects state primary, secondary and sixth form colleges across Oldham, Tameside, Rochdale, Wigan, Salford, Bury, Manchester, Trafford, Bolton and Stockport with inspirational and relatable local role models and speakers 💪

Since 2022, StateTalking has been working to level the playing field, one talk at a time.

Former independent school students make up less than 7 percent of the UK population, yet they continue to dominate industries spanning politics, media, the arts, professional sport, medicine, business and law. StateTalking is on a mission to change that narrative.

Their mantra is simple. You cannot be what you cannot see ❤️

By introducing Greater Manchester state school students to high achievers who look and sound like them, StateTalking is helping young people think bigger, expand their horizons and see new possibilities for their future.

We are incredibly proud to partner with an organisation so deeply aligned with our mission of Ideas Worth Spreading and meaningful community impact across Greater Manchester.

Welcome to the TEDxNorthernQuarter family StateTalking 🎤🔴

"If you can see it, you can be it."

It’s a simple phrase, but for so many young people faced with a dizzying array of choices, especially when deciding who they want to become, it can be life-changing.

This week, I had the privilege of working with the brilliant team from State Talking to speak with students about careers, possibilities, and the many paths life can take.

We talked about ambition. About fear. About setbacks, reinventions, and how - despite social media's attempts to persuade you otherwise - success is rarely a straight line.

But most of all, we talked about belief and the importance of seeing someone who’s walked a path that might once have felt out of reach.

Sometimes, all it takes is a conversation to open a door, a story to spark an idea and a visit to plant a seed.

If you feel you could help, please get in touch with the passionate, principled and purpose-driven guys at State Talking. You never know who your story can help.

This was the @statetalking event at St James Catholic High School where @coleen_rooney was one of the speakers. It was an audience for the children but what people forget is even as an adults, we love hearing about someone’s else journey! Coleen is amazing in the way she handles her media and private life. She gave nuggets of advice to the kids in the room (I am repeating them to my children!). Above all she was humble, down to earth and completely relatable as a role model for the children - which was what this initiative is all about.

I have had lots of DMs about coming to speak at different schools. I can do secondary and primary schools.

- I do not charge for this. It’s my way of giving back. I was once one of those kids who had a dream.

- Ask your careers person or one of your teachers to contact me at @nayyarssolicitors. If you DM me on here chances are I will forget but if you contact my work they have me in check!

- I am Manchester based but do travel so will depend if it is logistically possible with my diary.

You can DM me on here but the easiest way to get me in is via @nayyarssolicitors because that way my team will check my availability and slot it in my diary!
