💋🔪🔂 Kiss Slay Replay

I had the pleasure of meeting @rachelharrisonsghost at her book signing on Thursday, so it felt like the perfect time to share my review! 🖤📚

After a painful breakup, Willa heads to her best friend’s wedding for a weekend of celebrating, catching up with friends… and awkwardly avoiding her ex-fiancé, who’s brought a date!

Instead, the wedding turns into an absolute nightmare.

And then Willa wakes up. Back at the beginning of the same day.

What follows is a chaotic mix of time loops, dark humour and increasingly bizarre horror as Willa tries to figure out what’s happening before history repeats itself… again.

This was a fun read that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Each reset brings something new and wonderfully weird, keeping the story fresh and the pace moving. It’s definitely more quirky horror-comedy than genuinely scary, but there are plenty of bizarre moments to keep you guessing!

If you’re after something fast, fun and a little bit bonkers, this is worth picking up!

AUGUST RECAP 🦇☀️

Birthday celebrations, book crawls, good food, claw machines and seeing one of my favourite bands live again… 🖤

The Shirley book crawl with the SBC gang was definitely a highlight, as was a day out with Steff & Emma eating our way around Asia Asia and attempting to conquer Lucky Claw. I came home with a Totoro. The muscle shark remains undefeated.

I also explored Wightwick Manor, celebrated my birthday with Korean BBQ & hot pot, and somehow managed to start my Halloween shopping despite it still being approximately 400°C outside. 🎃

And then there was AFI. 🖤 Absolute bangers, as always, and very happy Lucy!

Books this month:
📚 Newbourne Park
📚 The Unhaunting
📚 The Day of the Door
📚 The Suffering
📚 Happy Hour

Currently reading Last Days

August, you were hot, busy and pretty bloody good 🖤

📚 ‘Table for One’ by Emma Gannon 🍊✨

This month’s book club pick has given us A LOT to talk about 👀

We’ve been doing a read-along throughout August, and it has been so lovely seeing how much this book has resonated with our readers. From debating Willow’s choices and questioning Dom’s behaviour to talking about friendship, loneliness, relationships, success and the pressure women face to have their lives figured out by a certain age, there has been so much to unpack.

I really enjoyed how much ‘Table for One’ made me think about what we consider a successful life, and whether being alone really has to mean being lonely. I also loved the way friendship becomes such an important part of Willow’s journey as she starts to find her way back to herself. It is a thoughtful, relatable read that gives you plenty to discuss, which made it such a good book club choice 💚

And because I know so many of you love a “if you liked this, try this” recommendation, I’ve put together a whole carousel of books that I think could pair beautifully with ‘Table for One’. Some are books I have read and loved, while others came up through my @the.storygraph, @goodreads and @readwithmargins recommendations.

👉 Swipe through the carousel to see my recommendations and let me know if you’ve read any of them, or if there’s another book you would add to the list!

Check out my story highlights from our #TableforOneReadAlong, because honestly, the discussions have been too good not to share 💬📖

Paid partnership with @harperfiction. Copies of Table for One were kindly supplied by Tink. Lifestyle photo of Table for One by Emma Gannon on a green notebook beside a coffee, pastry and drink on a marble café table. White handwritten text says “If you liked this” with an arrow pointing towards the book.
