Monitoring my glucose got my A1c from 5.8 to 5.3. Every now and then, I need to keep myself in check. Stress induced insulin resistance is what I have. To keep myself healthy, I’m monitor my glucose using a CGM like STELO, to make sure my glucose is not creeping upwards again. Elevated glucose is a source of inflammation, but it’s one of the easiest ways to lower inflammation by following your glucose levels. Staying active, using metformin, and avoiding foods that are high on the glycemic index are only a few ways to keep your A1c in a healthy range. #Sponsored A little GRWM (for a much needed night out 🙋🏽‍♀️) + something that’s been helping me feel more intentional lately 🤍

I’ve been using the @Stelo Glucose Biosensor for a few months now to get a grasp on how things like my meals, movement, stress + sleep impact my glucose which, spoiler, impacts a LOT of your day to day — and I love using those insights to show up a little better for myself.

Bonus? It’s the perfect accessory no one will even notice (and if they do, tell ‘em whatsup and give them the tea about being the healthy queen you are 😉)

Day of the Dead Half by @bigfootrunningcompany My frst half since @cctx.marathon Half last year. I improved my pace for long distances and I didn’t feel like I was ☠️ . The mind was willling, but the calves were crying 😭. I’m still struggling with the mile 9 calf cramps. Caught up with @delyce_m and we fought our leg cramps to the finish line 🏁. Not to put any ideas in your head, but ...

Learning about how your everyday meals affect your blood sugar is extremely important.

I’m using a continuous glucose monitor to observe my patterns in real time as I go about my normal day, eat my usual meals, and move my body.

In this clip, my midwife is explaining how it works and why monitoring blood sugar matters, even if you’re eating well and have no history of blood sugar issues.

Pregnancy changes how your body responds to insulin, and gestational diabetes can develop as pregnancy progresses - It’s not a character flaw.

The standard glucose screening test remains the established approach to screening for gestational diabetes. A CGM offers valuable information by showing glucose patterns throughout the day.

This is what I’m choosing with my specific provider to learn more about my body during this pregnancy. Understanding our options and learning how our bodies work is always worth the conversation. 🤍 @stelo

The ULTIMATE girl dinner 🎀 made glucose-friendly!

With my Stelo Glucose Biosensor, I’m able to see which foods impact my glucose levels more than others and help me create a dinner plate that works best for me. I focus on including lots of protein because it helps keep my glucose levels stable.

Perimenopause doesn’t always show up the way you’d expect. And you may be dismissed and made to feel like you’re overreacting. You’re not alone - generations of women have been under-diagnosed and treated.

Poor sleep or waking up in the middle of the night is one of the most common symptoms 😴

I have found it really helpful to set my circadian rhythm by going outside first thing in the morning, limiting caffeine in the afternoon and also avoiding exercising at night. I’m also noticing that I’m meeting more sleep than before so I start my bedtime routine earlier.

I’ve been tracking my sleep with my @ouraring and I appreciate the amount of data it provides. Not sponsored but I’m in love (also it pairs with the @stelo glucose monitor).

Wearing a continuous glucose monitor for the next 30 days to see what my blood sugar is actually doing day to day and how well my body is using glucose.

Since PMOS has such a strong connection to metabolic health, I’m hoping this data gives us a better picture of what’s going on and how we can better manage my symptoms.

Here’s what we’re looking at:
• My fasting + overnight baseline
• How high I spike after meals and how quickly I come back down
• Any dips or lows especially when I go too long without eating
• How my blood sugar responds on work days vs. days off

I’m still following an anti-inflammatory diet and slowly adding more foods back in each week. I’m also currently supporting my adrenals after finishing my liver detox.

And honestly, I’m feeling SO much better. My digestion, energy, skin, and brain fog have all improved. The biggest goal right now is getting my regular cycle back, which I know can take some time.

I’ll be sharing what I learn along the way because I know a lot of you are navigating similar things, whether you’re here for the hormone/metabolic side of it or just curious about what the data says. 💖

Excited to see what the next 30 days show and how I can use that information to support my hormones, energy, and overall health more intentionally. 💖
